Andrew Marshall is not and was never “the Pentagon”. He just worked there by presidential appointment as “chief strategist” in the pie in the sky think tank and his real area of expertise was foreign policy. His views did not necessarily reflect those of the National Command Authority (NCA is a term used to describe those that are those in the military chain of command that are not military which derive their command authority from the administrative branch such as Sec. Def, and the Secretaries of each individual service.) let alone those the military. IOW the guy was a high paid ADVISER having no authority over anything having to do with any actual military functions or policy or anything else substantive.
It was just another case of the Guardian and others using the ignorance of the masses.
I am still curious how you can have a “Siberian Cimate” (=> cold) and be suffering catastrophic sea rise (=>warm). What happens? UK is cold but elsewhere it is warm? Whazzat?

break through levees in the Netherlands, making coastal cities such as the Hague unlivable. In California the delta island levees in the Sacramento River area are breached, disrupting the aqueduct system transporting water from north to south.

Yes rah , the low land that joined Britain with Europe was called Doggerland where the Beaker people migrated across to Britain; not long before the sea rose & isolated them.
That’s what happens when sea levels drop about 370 ft. because so much of the earths water is locked up in ice as occurred during the peak of the last great glaciation about 22,000 years ago. Then about 2,000 years later the glaciers began to retreat and sea levels began to rise.

Yea but they left us some great mummies from the peat bogs. Seems a good meal of grain was a common last meal for the victim back then. But now days they would rather sacrifice us carnivores if they can’t eliminate our sources of meat and make us change to eating beans, bugs, worms, and grubs.
I couldn’t help myself this morning. Knowing I had corned beef in the fridge I bypassed the normal breakfast fare and broke out the rye bread, sour kraut, and thousand islands dressing and had a nice Ruben for my first meal of the day.
I blame such divergences from the normal eating patterns on my chaotic schedule and my long suffering wife has gotten used to it and accepts it as long as I’m ready to eat a good dinner when she makes one.

Aliens may destroy humanity to protect other civilisations, say scientists
Rising greenhouse emissions could tip off aliens that we are a rapidly expanding threat, warns a report
“It may not rank as the most compelling reason to curb greenhouse gases, but reducing our emissions might just save humanity from a pre-emptive alien attack, scientists claim.
Watching from afar, extraterrestrial beings might view changes in Earth’s atmosphere as symptomatic of a civilisation growing out of control – and take drastic action to keep us from becoming a more serious threat, the researchers explain.
This highly speculative scenario is one of several described by a Nasa-affiliated scientist and colleagues at Pennsylvania State University that, while considered unlikely, they say could play out were humans and alien life to make contact at some point in the future.
Shawn Domagal-Goldman of Nasa’s Planetary Science Division and his colleagues compiled a list of plausible outcomes that could unfold in the aftermath of a close encounter, to help humanity “prepare for actual contact”.
In their report, Would Contact with Extraterrestrials Benefit or Harm Humanity? A Scenario Analysis, the researchers divide alien contacts into three broad categories: beneficial, neutral or harmful.
Beneficial encounters ranged from the mere detection of extraterrestrial intelligence (ETI), for example through the interception of alien broadcasts, to contact with cooperative organisms that help us advance our knowledge and solve global problems such as hunger, poverty and disease.
Another beneficial outcome the authors entertain sees humanity triumph over a more powerful alien aggressor, or even being saved by a second group of ETs. “In these scenarios, humanity benefits not only from the major moral victory of having defeated a daunting rival, but also from the opportunity to reverse-engineer ETI technology,” the authors write.
Other kinds of close encounter may be less rewarding and leave much of human society feeling indifferent towards alien life. The extraterrestrials may be too different from us to communicate with usefully. They might invite humanity to join the “Galactic Club” only for the entry requirements to be too bureaucratic and tedious for humans to bother with. They could even become a nuisance, like the stranded, prawn-like creatures that are kept in a refugee camp in the 2009 South African movie, District 9, the report explains.
The most unappealing outcomes would arise if extraterrestrials caused harm to humanity, even if by accident. While aliens may arrive to eat, enslave or attack us, the report adds that people might also suffer from being physically crushed or by contracting diseases carried by the visitors. In especially unfortunate incidents, humanity could be wiped out when a more advanced civilisation accidentally unleashes an unfriendly artificial intelligence, or performs a catastrophic physics experiment that renders a portion of the galaxy uninhabitable.
To bolster humanity’s chances of survival, the researchers call for caution in sending signals into space, and in particular warn against broadcasting information about our biological make-up, which could be used to manufacture weapons that target humans. Instead, any contact with ETs should be limited to mathematical discourse “until we have a better idea of the type of ETI we are dealing with.”
The authors warn that extraterrestrials may be wary of civilisations that expand very rapidly, as these may be prone to destroy other life as they grow, just as humans have pushed species to extinction on Earth. In the most extreme scenario, aliens might choose to destroy humanity to protect other civilisations.
“A preemptive strike would be particularly likely in the early phases of our expansion because a civilisation may become increasingly difficult to destroy as it continues to expand. Humanity may just now be entering the period in which its rapid civilisational expansion could be detected by an ETI because our expansion is changing the composition of the Earth’s atmosphere, via greenhouse gas emissions,” the report states.
“Green” aliens might object to the environmental damage humans have caused on Earth and wipe us out to save the planet. “These scenarios give us reason to limit our growth and reduce our impact on global ecosystems. It would be particularly important for us to limit our emissions of greenhouse gases, since atmospheric composition can be observed from other planets,” the authors write.
Even if we never make contact with extraterrestrials, the report argues that considering the potential scenarios may help to plot the future path of human civilisation, avoid collapse and achieve long-term survival.”

Friday and Saturday have been the two most pleasant summer days we’ve had here in Central Indiana. Though temps got up near 90 deg. F humidity was down we had a nice breeze. Seems like we’ve been bouncing between hot and humid and rain and then cool and humid and then hot and humid and then rain etc all summer. Never seen so many tree frogs here and the grass has grown like it’s spring time all summer long.
The news has been making a big deal about the heat in the Northeast Eastcentral regions but when one drives I-90 to the north towards Boston, I-80 through the middle towards NYC, or I-70 to the south towards Baltimore even the grass in the medians is still green and not sun burned.
It is nice and cool in Maryland this morning.
If your driving Tony start watching for deer like it’s the rut. Seems like the White Tails are already starting to act stupid. Almost nailed a doe on I-70 east of Zanesville Ohio early Sunday morning last week and yesterday morning while riding my motorcycle there was a buck walking right down the middle of my road like he owned it!

I read a declassified edition of that 2004 report while in the National Guard, an organization that has a preparedness agenda that predates FEMA. Climate change meant buying bottled water, MRE’s, tents, electrical generators, heaters (for Global Warming–more heaters?) and other disaster supplies and equipment.
Not included was the simple fact that it took something like 250 years for the Industrial Revolution to turn Eden into Hell. Sixteen years before Doomsday? Compared to 250 years, 16 years is naptime! And reversing 250 years of climate abuse would be impossible in a mere 16 years–no matter how many billion people were subjected to the Final Solution. Back when Earth was overpopulated by a mere billion beings…

The Climategate emails that surfaced in late November 2009 are our opportunity to restart the SCIENTIFIC REVOLUTION.
These Pentagon people don’t know jack about climate history or climate change. They just drink and regugitate the Kool Aid being force fed to them by shamesless, agenda driven pseudo scientists, like Mann, Hansen and Hayhoe. They would do no worse using the neighborhood gypsy fortune teller or the Farmer’s Almanac.
The Pentagon study is based on the assumption that the global temperatures will increase much higher than from where we are today, and where we are today, is not unusually hot, no hotter than the 1930’s.
The problem with the Pentagon thinktank’s dire forecast is the global temperatures are *not* increasing. So if the temperatures do not increase as they are predicting, their scenario is invalid, because it requires higher temperatures than we have now. Either that, or we should already have been suffering from “extreme” weather events since the 1930’s because it was just as hot then as now.
BTW, the Pentagon studies all sorts of wild scenarios and makes all sorts of plans. They no doubt even have a plan to deal with interstellar aliens, even though, as far as we know, there are no interstellar aliens. So studying the potentials of runaway global warming on U.S. national security would not be unusual for them.
Back in the 1930’s it was as hot as today, but we weren’t worried about a runaway greenhouse effect then. Now here we are experiencing the same temperatures as the 1930’s or a little milder, and some people are saying we are breaking new ground on the climate’s temperature, but we are actually on the same ground, with a lot of speculation about what might happen going forward.
The same goes for the different arguments various individuals and groups make about human-caused global warming, that it is causing this weather condition, and that weather condition, but they are all working from a flawed assumption: That the Earth’s atmospheric temperature is increasing this very minute and will continue to do so, and that is what is driving the “extreme” weather.
But if the temperatures are *not* increasing, then how can they claim these weather events are caused by increased temperatures? They predict more numerous, and more extreme weather events and assume increased energy inputs into the system to drive those changes, but there are no increased inputs, if you go by the temperature of the atmosphere, and have not been any increased inputs for at least 15 to 20 years.
People making these predictions and claims are premature. First, you need increased temperatures for your claims to be valid. There are no increased temperatures, but NOAA tells them the atmosphere is the hottest ever in history and going to get hotter, and they believe it, and speculate from there. But all their speculation and claims fail if the global temperatures do not rise. Their “car” has no “gas”. Their theory is going nowhere in the real world.
The thermometer is not the friend of those who promote the human-caused global warming theory.

On January 18, Robert Tracinski, in the Federalist, observed that 2014 was definitely in the running for the most dishonest year on record. Somebody commented, in substance, “Wait until you see 2015”.
No Warming currently in the State of Tasmania AUSTRALIA . Today, it is Snowing on the capital Hobart and on many of the beaches… this has not happened since the 1980’s !!!
We are seeing far more Cooling trends than Warming… that is a fact.

A jump at 1997 then cooling until 2003, another small jump, then cooling with a peak/trough small jumps in 2010 and 2012.
The cooling trends between the 2003, 2010, 2012 jumps is steeper and steeper.

But since 2003, the cooling trend is -0.017ºC/year even with the small jumps.
