Snow does not fall as saline water, What was the salinity of the worlds oceans 12,000 years ago?

  2. Henry P says:

Sorry for being ignorant, I do not live in the USA
What exactly did Obama say, and in what context was it said?

    • bit chilly says:

think alng the lines of comparing arsenic and mercury to carbon dioxide. the potus is either ignorant, stupid or a liar . if this is the kind of leader americans vote in,well sorry, but they deserve everything that is coming to them.

how gullible does someone have to be to believe the shit that just came out his mouth in that speech, the man is an utter cretin.

    • Steve Case says:

You could avail yourself to a search engine. I think you would find that he said something to the effect that his ascent to the office of President will mark the time when the sea began to stop their rise, or something like that.

      • bit chilly says:

not on the uk broadcast i watched . he said exactly what i said he did.

        • Ted says:

I think Steve is referring to Obama’s victory speech at the 2008 democratic convention:

“Because if we are willing to work for it, and fight for it, and believe in it, then I am absolutely certain that generations from now, we will be able to look back and tell our children that this was the moment when we began to provide care for the sick and good jobs to the jobless; this was the moment when the rise of the oceans began to slow and our planet began to heal;”

The man in an insane megalomaniac. Unfortunately, those may be some of his better qualities.

  3. wizzum says:

Oh, I thought it would be a function of depth, where can I go to find out more about this?

  4. Beau Jeste says:

What’s the source f or the graphic?

  5. bit chilly says:

every single person in the world today will be dead before they can physically see a change in sea level . if people want to believe the utter crap spouted by anyone that says they can define sea level to tenths of a mm in among the noise in level changes orders of magnitude greater caused by barometric changes, lunar cycles and atmospheric water vapour changes ,feel free.

people that have the ability to think on the other hand will laugh at you.

  6. gator69 says:

If only Skeeter were a moron, then we would never have known him.

  7. Jon says:

“There can be little doubt that we have a world class moron in the White House” ? No just a politician. The man’s job is to administer an Empire, for whoever, so don’t expect objectivity from him, he would be removed if he didn’t mind his place.

  8. Hugh says:

The speed has been less than 5000 mm in 5000 years. Now it is 2-3 mm/year. surely this is faster than millennial average. It still is much less than satisfying. 🙂

Green need over 10 mm year soon to really reach the several metres/century target they set.

  9. wayne says:

I frequently wonder why there is never any discussion regarding movement of tectonic plates brought into the debate. For instance, in my country, one side is going downwards, the other is being lifted up out of the sea. So the issues regarding encroachment of the sea has far more to do with this effect that anything else.

  10. Sea level rise is the crux of the biscuit. If the sea level rise is not accelerating, the entire AGW theory is 100% proven wrong and there cannot be any way to squirm out of it.

    • The ocean is a thermometer for pete’s sake.

      • bit chilly says:

morgan, that is far too simplistic an explanation, climate science will never acknowledge any such statement unless the numbers can be mathturbated to death to prove carbon dioxide did it .

fortunately there are people like tony around to keep their feet to the fire. in the future i daresay these blog archives will show just how right he was.

    • Ted says:

If sea level starts falling, I’m sure Jimmy Hansen will point to it as proof of global warming. Just last week he informed us that he’d predicted increasing Antarctic ice all along, so he’s completely vindicated. Of course, he’d forgotten to tell us about this prediction until now, but he assures us he wrote it down 30 years ago. Somewhere. You’ll just have to trust him.

There simply isn’t any outcome that wouldn’t be held up as proof of their religious truths.

      • AndyG55 says:

“Just last week he informed us that he’d predicted increasing Antarctic ice all along,”

And Antarctic sea ice immediately started to decrease. ! 🙂

  11. Henry P says:

Sea levels here on the Cape coast have been known to be 30 meters higher than what they are at present. I think the [South African] Cape coast is the oldest in the world?
Could it have been something to do with the sun?
