  1. Billy Liar says:

Percival Lowell’s ‘canals on Mars’ and the belief in the Martians who constructed them lived 49 years longer than he did. It wasn’t until Mariner 4 in 1965 photographed craters on Mars and no canals were observed that Lowell’s conjecture was finally disproved.

Let’s hope someone puts a stake through the heart of the global warming conjecture in a rather shorter timescale.

Tony is giving you a tool to do so. Use it. You will see UHI and station corruption, past weather extremes greater than present ones,…
The warmunist meme will not suddenly collapse. It has to be beaten down over time with multiple refutations of its salient beliefs. Some suggestions:
Manufactured surface warming that provably cooled the past (and sometimes warmed the present, aka karlization (now under Congressional investigation). Divergence of surface post homogenized warming from 4 radiosonde and 3 satellite estimates of global temperature. (Don’t take our word. Slide 20 of the Karl from NOAA NCEI and Schmidt from NASA GISS press conference 20 Jan 2016). No warming in this century. No SLR acceleration. No increase in weather extremes: tornados down, tropical storms down. Polar bears do NOT depend on late summer ice. Renewables are impossibly intermittent. Greening thanks to CO2 fertilization, even in former warmunist poster child the Sahel (example and references in essay Carbon Pollution?). And so forth.
Tony writes software and blogs as his contributions to this battle. I wrote ebooks as mine.

As long as we have a corrupt political system nothing will change.

Despite Bernie’s landslide victory, Hillary receives more New Hampshire delegates

        We The People ?

        • inMAGICn says:

Who lives by the superdelegate dies by….
This is not the first time. I believe someone informed me in 2008 that Clinton had actually won a majority of delegates in the popular voting process. BHO cornered the superdelegates through his anointing by the corrupt insiders of the Dems. Now, guess who’s using the insider technique?

        • leftinflagstaff says:

And either one of them winning it all will equal a corrupt political system.

Please name them. I was only aware of three.

The Boss of the CSIRO just put a big stake in the heart of the climate cult.

I hope to live long enough to see that, but I get more pessimistic every day. I’ve realized that an annual $3 Billion is being spent to keep the monster alive and well. Money does talk. I am reminded of President Eisenhower’s observation as he said in his farewell address in 1961:

The prospect of domination of the nation’s scholars by Federal employment, project allocations, and the power of money is ever present – and is gravely to be regarded.

The people pushing this agenda want a week economy that produces plenty of poor people dependent on government handouts in return for their vote. The tipping point, to use a well worn phrase, will be when those on the government dole become numerous enough to swing the elections. At that point, a vicious circle will form that only a revolution will break.

    • Billy Liar says:

      Thanks for the replies.

If you’ve never been to Flagstaff, AZ, go there, it’s a great place! Visit the observatory, take a look at Lowell’s telescope and his notebooks which are on display.

Conversely put a stake through the conjecture that it doesn’t exist 😉

The darkies and pants story was slightly racist. Them woz the days….

However at least Lovell has the excuse of lack of good data, he didn’t manufacture it, he misinterpreted it.

    • Jason Calley says:

Hwy Andy! I don’t think it is fair to compare Lowell and Mann. Lowell was wrong about the canals, but as far as I know he was sincere in his error. Equally importantly, he spent his own money on his research, and never demanded that other people believe him or pay his way.

  3. Andy DC says:

It was at least romantic to think there were Martians. Nothing romantic about hysteria over warming that isn’t taking place.

  4. inMAGICn says:

Lowell had data derived from observations, an interpretation, and elaborated on it. In other words, he had a falsifiable theory. However goofy (yes, in retrospect), it was science.
Michael Mann, et al ad nauseum are in defiance of science in that anything that goes against their hypothesis (which is weak to begin with) is explained away or chalked up not to refutation but to evil-doers operating beyond their poor powers to refute.
Lowell comes out like an over-imaginative interpreter, the AGW crowd come out like sheer charlatans.

  5. Robertv says:

What about black holes and dark energy ?

  6. rachase says:

The basic problem anyone who tries to use logic and facts with the public to counter what is presented as “science”, is that our education system has now for many decades made no attempt to teach students how to reason and think critically. At least two generations have been taught to accept what the government says is fact, aided and abetted by a willing media that has abandoned any pretense of exercising what once was regarded as the responsibilities of objective journalism. As a result, we have great public support for global “climate change”, federally subsidized wind & solar power as the panacea for our energy “crisis”, and the nonsense that the ethanol program (subsidized, of course, and environmentally unsound) is essential component for US energy independence. And this cannot even begin to change as long as the federal government liberal wing has any influence over our national education.

  7. RAH says:

How can one tell climate “science” from pure bull shit? Check this latest excuse from NASA for the lack of predicted of sea level rise.

    http://news.yahoo.com/parched-earth-soaks-water-slowing-sea-level-rise-231245199.html

They have a never ending stream of excuses.

  8. amirlach says:

Advances in tech are quite meaningless if the real results are never reported. The Left Stream Media is on an Orwellian Crusade to make Safe the information consumed by the unwashed masses… Twitter and Google are the big ones, but smaller ministry of Truther’s are falling into line behind them. This from Alberta where by a freak vote split elected the Communist NDP.
They actually had armed Sheriffs escort journalists who dared to criticize Dear Leader, out of the press gallery.
