July 23, 2011 – Last Really Hot Day In The Northeastern US

On this date in 2011, the average maximum temperature in the Northeastern US was 94.6F, making it the 24th hottest day on record in the Northeast. Fifty-two percent of stations in the Northeast were above 90F, and twenty-two percent were above 100F.

The hottest day this year was July 21, which averaged 91.5F and had no stations over 100F.  This year’s “record heat” was the 170th hottest day in the Northeast since 1895.

The Northeastern US has had 775 days over 100F since 1895, of which 595 occurred with CO2 below 350 PPM.
