A Simple Solution To Gun Violence

2015-12-06-10-36-03

Democrats want to stop Islamic terror via strict gun control like they have in Paris and San Bernardino. Their goal is to make citizens completely defenseless against psychotic killers.

A more realistic approach is to go after the root of the problem. The vast majority gun crime in the US is committed in a few tiny blue areas of the country. If we are serious about stopping gun violence, we need to ban Democrats.

Unreported events in Konan, Korea in AUG-SEPT 1945 destroyed the integrity of constitutional governments and the government science after nations were united on 24 OCT 1945:

If anyone doubts that leaders of warring nations (Comrades and Capitalists) united in 1945 to stop the scientific revolution with a lie: Better Red Than Dead . . .

They should ask any scientist of their own choosing to comment, criticize or correct any errors they find in the manuscript on “Solar energy.”

        Well, finally!

I apologize. I sincerely believe the integrity of
        1. Government science, and
        2. Constitutional government
are tightly linked, but I have failed to convince you.

        • Ted says:

It’s not that any of us here dispute the link between science and government. There’s no need to convince us, as almost everyone here already feels the same. Several of us are even on board, to varying extents, with your theories about stellar physics. But this is Tony’s house. We talk about what HE wants to talk about. You’ve been pretty good at staying on subject lately. But the above comment has nothing at all to do with this post, or the resulting conversation. I think Tony is just trying to point out that you’ve started slipping again.

You are right, Ted. Thank you for the reminder.

We aren’t going to ban Democrats any time soon, but we could rub out a city in ISIS controlled territory whenever they go on a terrorist rampage. And we could pay a premium to school faculty to conceal and carry.

Well, none of those things will happen either. Well not yet at least.

  6. Donna K. Becker says:

If we paid more attention to, and publicized, what it takes to be responsible parents, including parenting and child development classes, plus mental health education, etc., I believe that much of the problem would be solved. Parents, teachers, and others must learn to identify potential problems and seek appropriate intervention. Of course, I also believe in an armed citizenry.

Some awkward facts related to recent news:
“Now is the time to do something about gun violence.” – President Obama https://www.whitehouse.gov/issues/preventing-gun-violence
Q: when will we reduce gun violence?
    http://www.breitbart.com/big-journalism/2015/12/04/washington-post-gun-violence-declining-except-gun-free-zones/
A: 1993, according to the Washington Post and Wikipedia https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gun_violence_in_the_United_States
Although Wikipedia says mass shootings have increased somewhat over the past 7 years.

The Washington Post also has a list of gun statistics around thte world, and there is little correlation between gun ownership and gun fatalities. 25 countries have higher firearm homicide rates than the US, but all have far lower ownership rates.
    http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-srv/special/nation/gun-homicides-ownership/table/
For example, the USA has 20 times as many privately owned guns as Brazil does, but the Brazilian firearm murder rate is 6 times higher. So either Brazilian weapons (or their owners) are 120 times more effective, or something else is going on besides owning a gun.

Here’s a poke at those trying to make political hay out of all this, in the spirit of “never let a good crisis go to waste” …
    Background checks or brick control?
    http://www.express.co.uk/news/world/623808/Monkeys-killer-priest-stoned
Almost anything can be a weapon; I’m sure you could find dozens by looking in your kitchen, closets, garages, medicine cabinets, tool boxes, and freezers. Note that the three largest mass murders in the USA since 1865 were committed with 1.) matches, 2.)vegetable fertilizer, and 3.) box cutters.
The number of fatalities caused by drunk drivers in the USA exceeds the number caused by firearms
    http://www.madd.org/drunk-driving/about/drunk-driving-statistics.html
but the political outrage is far less. So there must be other agendas involved with gun control besides saving lives.
Note: some of this merely repeats other comments on this thread, but I wrote this up a day or two ago not knowing where to post it. I think this thread on Steve’s site is perfect.

Very well said Richard. I would like to copy, post and email this everywhere. If you don’t mind that is.

      • Richard Keen says:

Hey Mtminer, please do send it out. Outside of some off-topic remarks, this whole thread is great, applying logic and data to something that many are treating quite irrationally.

Junk political science proposes that Democracy is the best form of government. Aristotle and Plato both said it wasn’t the best form of government because they knew that Democracy usually morphs into mobocracy. Demogogues and tyranny thrive…

I look at the whole gun control in a similar way as I do the way the whole AGW coal scheme is being run.

    1. “Everyone can agree that we need to do something about the worst offender, coal (assault weapons).”
    2. Once you agree that coal (an assault weapon) is bad then you’ve agreed in principle that CO2 (gun ownership) is bad so why don’t we look at getting rid of natural gas (handguns) too.

I can’t see where any of the increased rules proposed by the President would have prevented any of the recent mass shootings. But once you start that gun control ball rolling, then the next massacre means the next chance to ratchet up the “control” and you pass even more restrictive rules.

I’ll respect the President when he comes out says, “Okay, enough bullshit. The statistics clearly point out that nearly all gun violence is committed with handguns so let’s try to do something real and ban handguns. Assault weapons are part of the problem, but we need to work on the real problem”

At least we would know he’s serious about really doing something and not just throwing out proposals that are just meant to marginalize his opposition and energize his base.

He controlled congress during his first 2 years and did nothing. Are we supposed to believe that only since the Connecticut school shootings that he realized people are getting murdered and that he should use his bully pulpit to do something about it? That his opinions “evolved” like they did on same sex marriage?

    • Jason Calley says:

If Obama (or any of the other politicians) really believed that more guns means more murders, they would tell all their armed guards to go home. Politicians and guns are like Gore and CO2. “Do as I say, not as I do.”
