The Winters Of 1932

The 1932 winter Olympics in Lake Placid, NY was nearly ruined by warm weather. There was no snow two weeks before the games started.

Later that year, almost the entire country east of the Mississippi was over 60 degrees on Christmas Day

CO2 was 305 PPM at the time.

You must understand that the event you are referring to was a ‘singular case’, it is ‘anecdotal evidence’, is based on ‘non-calibrated surface records’ with ‘poor quality control’. You are talking about ‘weather’.

A similar event today would of course be an example of ‘climate change’, ‘anthropogenic climate change’, ‘global warming’, ‘effects of carbon’ and ‘extreme weather’. Not to be confused with ‘weather’.

It already has been see: https://stevengoddard.wordpress.com/2015/12/13/climate-moron-of-the-day-5/

And you of course know that Moron is just the tip of the iceberg. There are others touting the fact that Buffalo has gone later in the year with no measurable snow than ever before on record. Or at least that is what is being reported. And that too is of course blamed on climate change, just as the record lake effect snow blast they had November of 2014 was blamed on Climate change. Climate change is everywhere and responsible for everything.

Precisely and the unspoken, subliminal, implantation is that there is an ideal, temp, precip, per each calendar day for each GPS point. So on that everyday when it isn’t met the sky is falling and the government needs to come to our rescue. Because they can adjust the thermostat, Ante up please. Of course with the funding channel opened up the climate will never be settled which is just the way the IPCC wants it since they have good paying gigs.

Wow, so they had unprecedented warmth back then too!
CO2 must be able to travel backwards in time after all.

If contiguous US covers 4% of Earth’s area, how much does a big city cover?

  4. Andy DC says:

Christmas 1964 and 1965 of my youth in Washington, DC were both over 70 degrees. In January 1950, it reached 80 in January. Mild spells in winter are nothing new.

    • Jason Calley says:

“Mild spells in winter are nothing new.”

That seems to be a point that the CAGW enthusiasts just cannot get through their heads. Well, that and the flip side of that, the fact that you get really hot spells during the summer. They keep trying to convince us that we are going through something new and unprecedented — but anyone who can read a little or who has lived long enough and has a decent memory, can tell you “we have seen this stuff before!”

I have yet to meet a CAGW supporter who will even give a rational response concerning why the greatest portion of US state all-time high temperatures were set back in the 1930s. I mean, after all, CO2 is like steroids for high temperatures, right? CO2 is “loading the dice for record high temperatures!”

I really am reaching the point where I no longer try to respond to those flakes. Logic, science, facts — they are all useless against warmists. It is like trying to discuss economics with a marxist. They are not even rational enough to rise to the level of being simply wrong.

      • cfgjd says:

Rising average global temperatures do not guarantee that a small patch of land like the contiguous US will break old records. This should be obvius to everyone but I guess it is not.

        • AndyG55 says:

Global temperatures HAVE NOT risen is 18 or so year..

You are an ignorant piece of human trash, with absolutely nothing to support anything you say..

        • Jason Calley says:

cfgjd, I would say “do the math” but you will not. If it were one or two or three state records it would be simple to write it off as just a dice throw. If it were a case of one or two or three years running, it would be simple to write it off as mere chance. This is a case of fifty states with records spanning more than a hundred years. Of those fifty states about half set their records during the 1930s.

My advice to you? Don’t ever take up gambling. You do not understand basic math.

Andy point out a fact: “Global temperatures HAVE NOT risen is 18 or so year..”

Apparently rising average global temperatures do not even guarantee that global average temperatures will rise. This sort of mentation (notice that I do not use the gerund “thinking”) passes for knowledge among the CAGW faithful.

Re: the posted map for temps on Christmas 1932, I’d be interested in seeing overall US temperature trends for that winter. It looks like a classic El Nino pattern, just like this year so far.

Edit: 1932-33 is indeed listed as an El Nino year, which have occurred on average three years out of every decade since at least 1900.
