A more accurate term for “Global Warming” would be “Globe trotting warming”. Right now it’s in a small portion of the Arctic and a good bit of Australia. Next week who knows where it will be. But where ever it is the warmists will seek it out and report on it as if it’s typical of the whole globe.

And when they can’t find enough they make it up. Here is the latest from the WP:

Barents is a bit low, but the Kara Sea is full according to MASIE

  3. Ron Clutz says:

Weather is affecting Barents, but it is making a comeback, along with Baffin growing a lot. The state of Arctic ice is here:

    California’s Tallest Dam Overtopping

    • RAH says:

I guess if they mean using the emergency spillway is over topping then that statement is correct however it is kind of misleading because to me overtopping would mean water going right over the top of the concrete dam it’s self and that is what the spillways are there to prevent.

Anyway the assuring rosy predictions by the authorities have turned out to be so much BS and now they have a real emergency on their hands and very probably a disaster. The very least that will happen is that smelt and salmon are going to take a big hit. But of course there very well could be much worse happen than that. Since the authorities have proven to be less than honest I guess we’ll have to wait and see.

Footage of the emergency spillway being used:
      http://www.kcra.com/nowcast

Those news people sure seem confident that everything will be OK. I somehow doubt that. From what I’ve seen that emergency spillway was constructed in the 60’s and has never been used before. And they still have a huge amount of rain coming and the spring melt, when the lake levels are usually the highest, hasn’t even started yet.

IOW that 50+ year old “emergency” spillway is going to be in use for a long time to come.

        @ Larry; More FAKE NEWS.
I have seen this overflow at least twice before. This time the spillway was damaged by the flow and was shut off. The water & power outlets have been opened up to relieve the excess flows while the damage is being surveyed and repairs considered. Looked to me that the damage to the spillway was major…pg

        • RAH says:

They cleared brush and hauled in boulder and sprayed concrete to prepare for the use of the emergency spillway all in three days. They also took down the power lines now. The force of that much water is tremendous so it seems to me that basic question is how strong the rock is in the embankment and how well it will stand up to erosion.

It’s going to take some time to repair the primary spillway that was damaged after the cavitation that occurred as they used it to buy time to prepare the emergency spillway the best they could. It all sure seems pretty dicey to me.

    Yes!
It appears the Antarctic is the trigger for ice ages,
…reflecting solar energy with ice floes, etc
The arctic ice simply determines how “big” the glaciers will be!

But them, Post Children are intended to distract!

    • Gail Combs says:

That is why they never really mention Antarctic sea ice in the winter especially when it was record breaking a few years ago. The El Nino kept it from being record breaking this year but an El Nino is heat energy LEAVING the ocean and heading out to space. With a very sleepy sun not dumping high end energy back into the oceans for the next few years, it is going to get ‘interesting’

    • Griff says:

Well it is a shame there’s a real low in the current sea ice levels down there then…

World sea ice total at a record low this year.

      • AndyG55 says:

Nowhere near as low as during the first 3/4 of the Holocene tough, is it griff.

Keep DENYING history.. its all you have. :-)

      • AndyG55 says:

What the real problem is, is the massive cold anomaly over China, Russia where millions of people live.

We are not talking about a bit of missing sea ice, we are talking temperatures 20ºC or more BELOW their normal WINTER temperatures. down into the -40ºC range… ALL WINTER

And Evil, human-hating people like griff, are worried about a small drop in sea ice because of the flip side of the Jet Stream wobble. Truly DISGUSTING.

      • Gail Combs says:

        Griffy, you STILL can’t read.

“The El Nino kept it from being record breaking this year but an El Nino is heat energy LEAVING the ocean and heading out to space.”

  6. Griff says:

“Record low daily Arctic ice extents continued through most of January 2017, a pattern that started last October. Extent during late January remained low in the Kara, Barents and Bering Seas. Southern Hemisphere extent also tracked at record low levels for January; globally, sea ice cover remains at record low levels.”

    http://nsidc.org/arcticseaicenews/

“January air temperatures at the 925 hPa level (approximately 2,500 feet above sea level) were above average over nearly all of the Arctic Ocean, continuing the pattern that started last autumn (Figure 2b). Air temperatures were more than 5 degrees Celsius (9 degrees Fahrenheit) above the 1981 to 2010 average over the northern Barents Sea and as much as 4 degrees Celsius (7 degrees Fahrenheit) above average in the northern Chukchi and East Siberian Seas. It was also unusually warm over northwestern Canada. “

    • AndyG55 says:

Great to see it dropping down even a very, very small amount towards the norm for the Holocene, even if it is brought about by the wavy Jet Stream.. ie WAETHER

There is ABSOLUTELY NOTHING SCARY ABOUT LOSING ARCTIC SEA ICE.

Less sea ice will allow more commerce, oil drilling , all sorts of advantageous activity for the people living up there. :-)

Not so great for the people on Northern Russia who have been fighting against strong negative anomalies all year.

But you don’t care about them, do you , griff.

  7. gator69 says:

Too bad we can’t get leftists, like Ms Griff, to help prevent poor brown people from needless starvation.
