Learning To Think Like A Progressive

Tom Steyer wants guns banned and believes 0.0004 mole fraction CO2 is deadly. He is so worried about these things, he believes nuclear annihilation is necessary to prevent them from happening.

Steyer: Maybe We Can Have a ‘Nuclear War’ to Provide a ‘Real Course Correction’ to Trump

Steyer believes we need this :

To prevent this :

Democrats are very angry about Trump making peace with North Korea. It gives them one less thing to be hysterical about.

Back when I attended German jump school in 1988 to get my German Jumpmaster wings we Americans were “welcomed” by a Fallschirmjäger major. I should mention that at the gate of the facility was a WW II German 88 mm gun with 6 white rings around the barrel indicating kills. We got off the bus and into formation and were called to attention and he marched up before us and I swear actually scraped the ground before us with his boots to get it just right for him to snap to attention before us. I swear the guy was full hardcore military and I imagined him right then and there with the SS skull and crossbones on his collar. After he put us “at ease” the one statement I remembered from his “welcome” was “We don’t really want you here but understand why you need to be here…….”. Five jumps with their equipment out of their aircraft including 2 partial malfunctions (the only ones I ever had) later with our German wings on our chests we partied with the German Cadre of the school and had a wonderful drunken time.

I Loved my time in Germany and liked training with the Germans which I did several times and loved the Bavarians and their ways. But Trump is right. We’ve been carrying a disproportionate and unfair burden for the defense of western Europe for most of my 62 year life time and it is long past time for that to end!

Patch Barracks was my home for three years, and I loved almost every minute of it. So glad I lived in Germany while it was still German.

PS – Field Marshal Erwin Rommel’s son was mayor of Stuttgart when we lived there.

Oh before someone decides to try and educate me. I know the WW II German paratroopers were part of the Luftwaffe and not part of the Army or SS.

Science does not care about credentials.

Science does not care how many initials are in front and behind your name.

Science does not care about the number of your publications and citations.

Science cares that the rules are followed.

Science does not waive those rules based on who you are, who you know or your noble cause.

    288 K – 255 K = 33 C warmer with an atmosphere does not follow the rules.

396 W/m^2 LWIR upwelling from a BB surface powering a GHG energy loop does not follow the rules.

These two broken rules invalidate RGHE theory.

RGHE theory failure negates any role for CO2 and mankind in the behavior of the climate.

        Me Terak, rules of science…

1- List all climate forcings, order them from most to least effectual, and then quantify them all.

2- Please provide even one peer reviewed paper that refutes natural variability as the cause of recent, or any, global climate changes.

There is nothing unusual or unprecedented about our climate, or how we got here. For 4,500,000,000 years climates have always changed, naturally. This means there has been a set precedent, and the burden of proof falls on natural climate change deniers like yourself.

        Still waiting…

Yes. It’s asinine. And anti-science. You can stop being a denialist anytime you’re ready to let go of the dogged belief and religious worship of your failed hyped-pothesis.

They dream of culling the population.

For example, the World Health Organization Project, designed to eradicate malaria from Sri Lanka in the postwar years, achieved its purpose. But the problem today is that Sri Lanka must feed three times as many mouths, find three times as many jobs, provide three times the housing, energy, schools, hospitals and land for settlement in order to maintain the same standards. Little wonder the natural environment and wildlife in Sri Lanka has suffered. The fact [is] … that the best-intentioned aid programs are at least partially responsible for the problems.

I don’t claim to have any special interest in natural history, but as a boy I was made aware of the annual fluctuations in the number of game animals and the need to adjust the ”cull” to the size of the surplus population.

According to the Book Ecoscience(Paul”i was more often wrong than Hansen”Ehrlich&Obamas Climate tzar Holdren)
the earthpopulation is to be kept below 2 billion.

    Was referred to a paper:
Trenberth, K. E., and J. T. Fasullo, 2017: Atlantic meridional heat transports computed from balancing Earth’s energy locally. Geophys. Res. Lett., 44, 1919–1927, doi:10.1002/2016GL072475 [Article] [PDF]

Posted in this paper are global energy balance tables with up/down W/m^2 based on 1.0 emissivity and assuming the earth’s surface radiates as a BB.

The only way a surface radiates BB is into a vacuum.

Refer to my modest experiment. Isn’t that how real science is done?

  7. Nicholas Schroeder, BSME, PE says:

    The Instruments & Measurements

But wait, you say, upwelling LWIR power flux is actually measured.

    Well, no it’s not.

IR instruments, e.g. pyrheliometers, radiometers, etc. don’t directly measure power flux. They measure a relative temperature compared to heated/chilled/reference thermistors or thermopiles and INFER a power flux using that comparative temperature and ASSUMING an emissivity of 1.0.

The Apogee instrument instruction book actually warns the owner/operator about this potential error noting that ground/surface ε can be less than 1.0.

That this warning went unheeded explains why SURFRAD upwelling LWIR with an assumed and uncorrected ε of 1.0 measures TWICE as much upwelling LWIR as incoming ISR, a rather egregious breach of energy conservation.

This also explains why USCRN data shows that the IR (SUR_TEMP) parallels the 1.5 m air temperature, (T_HR_AVG) and not the actual ground (SOIL_TEMP_5). The actual ground is warmer than the air temperature with few exceptions, contradicting the RGHE notion that the air warms the ground.

Steyer thinks a nuclear war is a better idea than having Trmp as president.

You all see how crazy this line of thinking is, don’t you?

Aren’t you glad ole Donald is running the show? I certainly am. :)

I was stationed at Wildflecken, Germany 1967-68. I too am glad I got to see Germany while it was still Germany.

Steyer wants a nuclear war and Merkel wants to destroy her nation from within. Well, maybe “wants” is too strong. Merkel is just clueless and oblivious to danger. Inviting the enemy into your camp is not a good idea.
