July 11 afternoon temperatures have been plummeting in the US for over a century.

On July 11, 1936 most of the eastern two-thirds of the US was over 100 degrees.

On July 11, 1911 temperatures were over 100 degrees from California to Maine.

    This is a personal comment on 1936. I particularly appreciate your coverage of the 1936 heat wave. I was born in Flint, MI, on September 6, 1936. This means that my poor mother spent the last few months of her pregnancy in the heat and humidity of the hottest summer on record in mid-Michigan. She must have been miserable. Thanks for the history.

    92 F in Tempe, Az right now – about 10 degrees below what we are accustomed to this time of year. Definitely we’ve been having mild summers of late.

    And people are moving here. This wasn’t suppose to be happening. Phoenix was supposed to be devastated by M@nn-Made Global Warming.
