August 3 US afternoon temperatures peaked in 1930, and have been declining ever since.

On this date in 1930, it was 113 degrees in Nebraska; 112 in South Dakota, Oklahoma and Kansas; 111 in Missouri, 110 in Iowa and Arkansas, 109 in Minnesota, 108 in Illinois and 106 in Virginia. Average maximum temperature around the US was 94 degrees. There were 100 degree temperatures coast to coast.  CO2 was below 310 PPM.
