“Scientists Say”

“Scientists say” that sea level is rising faster than at any time in the last 2,800 years.

Seas are now rising faster than they have in 2,800 years, scientists say – The Washington Post

The 1990 IPCC report said there was no convincing evidence of an acceleration in sea level rise during the 20th century.

The past is constantly changing to meet the political needs of the left.

Doesn’t the Washington Pat and other media spinners realise that the more they lie, the less chance they have of being believed?
Thank you, Tony and the team for outing this garbage when it appears, it’s a shame you don’t have as big an audience as the WP.

  2. WCK says:

It is more likely that the minor rise in sea level is due to thermal expansion than melting accumulated snow, a rise in temperature (small though it is, is considerable when multiplied by the vast amount of ocean) is all the explanation needed for the SLOW, STABLE, and CONSISTANT rise of CO2 level we see. We have geologic evidence that temperature PRECEEDS CO2 level by a 1000 years, it did not change overnight. It is propaganda on a level that would make Josef Goebbels think he did not try hard enough. Propaganda that told US we are racist BECAUSE we do not care about someone’s race (WTF is up with that?). Propaganda that CREATED from a humble respiratory virus, a plague to rival the Spanish Flu which killed up to 500 million people. This would in comparison to today’s population would be up to 2 BILLION people, you would see bodies in the street and you would be related to multiple victims. The propaganda that tells you that a doddering old thief and pervert with a following of 8 people in a parking lot, received more votes than a President that had 96 MILE long convoys on the freeway between Phoenix and Tucson. There is an old saw about turkeys being so stupid they would drown in rain from looking up to see what was happening, this is NOT true of turkeys, but IS true of Biden voters.

CSIRO (red line) used to be regarded as a ‘sheltered workshop’ for the intellectually gifted.
You could trust their ethics and science. (WiFi was developed by CSIRO)

Sadly, when it comes to climate change, there is a strong leaning among senior staff to let IPCC policy drive the evidence. Dissenting voices are silenced.

  4. Steve Case says:

Even Colorado University’s Sea Level Research Group says only 3.3 mm/yr. That aside, NOAA, not NASA says 1.7 mm/yr.
    https://tidesandcurrents.noaa.gov/sltrends/slrmap.html
And acceleration? Any reasonable investigation will turn up about 0.01mm/yr² of acceleration. That’s good for an increase of 1 mm/yr in 100 years IF that continues, and there’s no empirical evidence that it will.

Anyone that can’t see that this is all coordinated with political social events is an idiot!

They can do the same thing with election results.

  8. Dave says:

I’ve noticed the sea level rises twice a day here but on average it’s the same. However since the suggestion of the rising sea I have been watching closely. Nope not for the last 30+ years. Maybe some place else.

  9. Anon says:

The funny thing about this is that if I were an alarmist, the first thing I would do is head down to the Brooklyn Battery tide gauge (or any other high quality long term tide gauge) and show the people directly the danger they are in. It would be such an easy argument to make, with an incredible impact. But that never happens, for obvious reasons. As I remember there was a Gilligan’s Island episode that followed this scenario.

I guess you have to subscribe to the WaPo to read the damned article! No chance. So who are the “scientists” who are “saying”? Do they say who the “group of scientists” are???

  11. Justa Joe says:

The left intend to lurch society from one “crisis” to the next. I’m not cocerned about a purported infinitesimal sea level “rise.”
