BoM in Aus – absobloodyutful disgusting pack of second rate technicians.

There was also a 50.3 in Oodnadatta on the 3rd Jan, 1960. The BoM starts all its official temp records from 1910 when Stevenson Shields were rolled out to all sites. However many sites had had an SS for years before that but their high temps have been conveniently ignored.

BoM starts their temperature series in 1910 these days. Which is odd since 1910 is just about right at the bottom of the ~60 year cycle. It’s a total mystery why they might pick that year, and not 1880, say, at the top of the cycle.

The BoM have also increased the annual mean temps by between 0.1 – 0.2C from at least 1995 to 2017. Aust had two below average years this century (2001 and 2011) but no longer. ACORN2 adjustments?
