I have a particular interest in 1936 because I was born in early September, 1936. My mother carried me through the terrible summer of ’36 in Michigan, where temperatures reached 110+. She did this in a small, uninsulated house with nothing but a green, GE, 10-inch, oscillating fan. The newspaper articles Tony has posted over the years have pointed out that 1936 was a very bad year for weather. For me, most of the year was a constant 98.6F.
