A Double Wrong

“To suppress free speech is a double wrong. It violates the rights of the hearer as well as those of the speaker. It is just as criminal to rob a man of his right to speak and hear as it would be to rob him of his money.”

“To suppress free speech is a double wrong.”

When and why did Americans lose the ability to write such a short, clear sentence?

    • paul courtney says:

To dearieme: “it’s worse than we thought!!” Even if nobody could write it, we have the gift of Fred Douglass, a fine example of American Exceptualism and privilege (yeah, I said it! What other nation in 19th century allows Fred Douglass to learn to read and write?). We are tossing that gift into a landfill, because nobody seems to be able TO EVEN READ IT!!

  2. Eli the Pit Bull says:

Video removed because of hate speech

  3. Disillusioned says:

Welp, it looks as if here’s another prime example of blatant censorship over of an idea somebody arbitrarily decided nobody else should see – a Youboob yayhoo cancelled your video claiming hate speech (which, knowing you, it was not). I hope it is on Rumble.

Once a government is committed to the principle of silencing the opposition, it has only one way to go, and that is down the path of increasingly repressive measures, until it becomes a source of terror to all of its citizens, and creates a country where everyone lives in fear.”

Sounds like hate speech to me.

A couple years ago at Jo Nova’s site I tried to post a quote from Winston Churchill’s two volume set, ‘River War’ and she could not allow it to be posted because of the laws in Australia governing “hate speech”. She was very apologetic about it and couldn’t believe she couldn’t post a Churchill quote.

Here is the forbidden passage I quoted:
“How dreadful are the curses which Mohammedanism lays on its votaries! Besides the fanatical frenzy, which is as dangerous in a man as hydrophobia in a dog, there is this fearful fatalistic apathy. The effects are apparent in many countries. Improvident habits, slovenly systems of agriculture, sluggish methods of commerce, and insecurity of property exist wherever the followers of the Prophet rule or live. A degraded sensualism deprives this life of its grace and refinement; the next of its dignity and sanctity. The fact that in Mohammedan law every woman must belong to some man as his absolute property—either as a child, a wife, or a concubine—must delay the final extinction of slavery until the faith of Islam has ceased to be a great power among men.”

BTW, that was published by Churchill when he was 26 years old.

        • Jack the Insider says:

I suggest she was just being polite not wanting that particular quote published on her site. There is no law in Australia that would have prevented it being posted. If you want an Australian site with Conservative leaning that covers topical news without fear or favour and without sensorship by its moderators (other than the use of swear words) then try the Richardson Post. It’s the simplest of questions a person can pose to the censorship authorities: Why not show me what the problem is, dissect its faults for all to see, which should result in the offender ultimately self-censoring out of pure shame. When you hide the problem, then I will never know what the problem is nor will I be able to teach others about it or recognize a future instance of it.

My friend Tom Harris of the International Climate Science Coalition illustrated this many years ago in a question aimed at one of his fiercest critics http://gelbspanfiles.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/02/Keating-delblacklist.jpg who had accused ME of all sorts of crimes, which the accuser had hidden from all his loyal supporters.

  6. Disillusioned says:

Because the video was censored by a Goebbels admirer, it appears there is A Triple Wrong.

  7. Conrad Ziefle says:

Why use You Tube? Other places exist.

  8. Bob Hoye says:

Double irony on your today’s blog.
    Followed by some good comments.
The nest phase of another popular uprising will occur on election day.

  9. Terry Dixon says:

Wow ! All of your postings are hate speech Tony. Unreal !!!
    This is scary stuff.

  10. John says:

    Correction:
This video has been removed for violating YouTube’s policy on free speech.

  11. Michael Spencer says:

So, it seems that Tony telling the truth and backing it up with nasty provable facts is ‘hate speech’! The let’s have more ‘hate speech’ then, Tony!

  12. JimK says:

Is there another place you posted this video – YouTube removed it for “hate speech”
    Thanks
    JK

  13. Jimmy Walter says:

“Democracy dies in the darkness!” Washington Prop, oops, Post.

  14. Colorado Wellington says:

“This video has been removed for violating YouTube’s policy on hate speech. Learn more about combating hate speech in your country.”

Is it hate speech when I say I hate these globalist assholes and their fascist politics?

  15. GreyGeek says:

Biden has established the “Minister Of Truth” division of the DHS, reviving a mainstay of the USSR’s war against the truth. The USSR took it so far that they put “Political Officers” on every navel vessel, in every factory, every school, everywhere, in order to prevent wrong think. They were armed. So will Biden’s political officers, which is why he and his Marxist buddies are working hard to outlaw the 2nd Amendment.
Biden’s goal is the same as Stalin’s, and for the same reasons. All Marxists think alike, and eventually a narcissistic psychopath rises to the top to be dictator, and kills all of his rivals, both real and imaginary.

  16. Robertvd says:

To suppress free speech is to suppress thought.
