That was around the time he was Projecting a 25 meter sea level rise in 100 years!
Steve, here’s a longer list

2006:
“I think sea-level rise is going to be the big issue soon, more even than warming itself.”
Sea-level rise since then has been just over 1mm/year going by satellite data, the slowest rate of rise it has ever been since satellite records started. “soon” certainly isn’t in a few years.

NASA should just fire James ‘Death Trains’ Hansen as he is bringing them into disrepute by being continually arrested and spreading erroneous alarm. If he can be shown to be so wrong about the past why should anyone believe any of his sill predictions in the fact of flat mean temps and snowfalls in UK becoming more common as opposed to less as he claimed?
He is a public employee for goodness sake!

There is a reason someone–or some agency–wants him in that position doing what he’s doing. In any other government department or private company, he would have fired long ago, and possibly institutionalized.
The whole AGW scare is beyond fishy, especially considering the amount of money being poured into it by governments blithely ignoring the failed predictions, faked photos, temperature and sea-level falsifications, and extraordinarily left-wing political rants of the world’s foremost “climate scientists.” I don’t think the usual suspects are pulling the strings, but are, rather, dangling from them. NASA and its thousands of employees know Hansen is a lunatic frantically fudging figures, and it’s likely so do the FBI and CIA. The fact that he hasn’t been fired, even after all of his arrests, is fairly suggestive.
He once boasted that he couldn’t be fired because he had contacts in high places. But, who and how high are unanswered questions. I don’t think Al Gore is sufficiently important; I don’t even think Obama could save his sorry ass.
Yes, he’s a public employee using taxpayer time and money for radically partisan political activities, and for promoting what, in his case, seems to be a doomsday religion. This is supposed to be illegal, yet the government does nothing. How does one insane old hippie manage to browbeat a huge, multi-billion dollar federal agency into doing his bidding? I don’t think he does. I think he’s doing the bidding along with everyone else involved, and that somewhere behind the curtain, far more powerful hands prevail.
The last 100,000 years? Not only is he a scare monger but he is a poor scientist.
No Amino,a just a liar.
Just a!!
I honestly think he’s mentally ill. We should not mock the afflicted.
Ok, then let’s just get a psychological evaluation done.
A few years ago, these guys would be on a downtown street corner with a sandwich board spreading their doom and gloom to a few hundred passersby. Now NASA hires them.
There is big money involved in these disaster scenarios, otherwise it is a total joke.
Time – Monday, Jul. 04, 1988
“His findings were based on monthly readings at 2,000 meteorological stations around the world. The data showed that temperatures over the past century had increased in winter more than in summer, and that areas in high latitudes like Paris and New York had warmed up more than regions near the equator. That was consistent with computer models. “These are all expected signatures of the greenhouse effect,” Hansen said. Still, he and other leading scientists warned against concluding that the greenhouse effect is directly responsible for the heat wave that is parching areas of the U.S. “Why didn’t we have a drought last summer?” he asks. “You can only say that the probability of drought is increased by the greenhouse effect.”……………
Stephen Schneider of the National Center for Atmospheric Research in Boulder agrees with Hansen that this has been the warmest decade on record and that the planet is gradually heating up. But the evidence, he says, is circumstantial. Contends Schneider: “It doesn’t prove the greenhouse effect.””

The 80s were colder than the 30s so they were both lying in 1988!
Wow… Schneider was once a heretic!
I am seriously thinking of applying for a job with the Federal Government, showing up in a straight-jacket, foaming at the mouth, uttering some nonsense about global warming causing hair loss and getting that cushy job with a nice retirement I always wanted.
With blue or better yet pink hair they will make you an administrator.
Let Hansen keep babbling. Every pronouncement or weird act of his adds to the general disrepute of the climate mongers. He joins Al Gore in that category by the way.
Why are these doomsayers never called on their ignorant predictions? I mean by the MSM or other real scientists. This is like the financial channels going back to economists who continually miss projections for jobs, incomes, wages, anything. If my financial adviser were this inept, he’d have been fired a long time ago.
One does feel sorry for Jim Hansen, because ha must have “lost his marbles” about 30 years ago. for anyone to believe in “catastrophic global warming” has to have lost his marbles. One is sorry to say such things, but that appears to be the case.
Does anyone agree?
