Heavy Rainfall Events Show No Correlation With CO2

One of the favorite claims of the scamsters is that heavy rainfall events are increasing due to trace amounts of CO2. ‘

You’ll be hard pushed to find anything that correlates well with a rise in CO2 levels, except the greening of the planet.
No worsening weather events correlates with rising CO2 level. Period.

Another alarmist myth bites the dust!

  3. SteveO says:

How dare you make that claim! There is clearly a 0.0425% correlation.

  4. mjc says:

Yeah, I can correlate the amount I have to mow my yard with CO2 rise, but not the temps, rain, snow or anything else…at least that’s the only thing I can pin the near constant ‘wild’ growth and more frequent mowing needed over the past several years to.

As a side note, higher CO2 levels, the same conditions (temp, water, etc) will cause ‘larger’ seasonal growth rings in trees. Was comparing a log cut about 15 yrs ago to one cut last summer (same species) and noticed that with everything close to the same, the more recent rings are ‘bigger’…indicating more rapid growth (actually the couple of summers before that tree was cut were warmer than the past few, so it should have grown faster then).

Oh, and both logs are off the same root system…it was a coppiced black cherry (Prunus serotina).

    Steven,

A careful review of Climate Psyence literature shows that the heavy rainfall is trapped in the deep ocean abyss – just waiting, waiting until we least expect it to arise from the depths and, and, rain on us. We’ll be sorry. /sarc

That’s because most of the excess heat in the climate is taken up by the ocean, and it’s a much better indicator for the overall stress that we’re putting on the global climate system…

…we’re going need to start tracking actual hazards—extreme weather events.

Wait a minute; I thought actual hazards have been tracked… which actual hazards have gone untracked? Anybody know of any? Especially ones that correlate with CO2. Anything? Anybody got anything? No, really. Let me know. I’d like to know all about the untracked hazards correlating to CO2 increase, specifically the Man-Made CO2 portion of CO2 rise. You know, the stuff completely out of the ordinary parameter space of historic weather / climate.

Should be pretty easy, you know, settled science and all. Or even just something quantifying <"the overall stress that we're putting on the global climate system…".

A graph or two; maybe a link.

CO2 doesn’t have anything to do with heavy rainfall here in my little part of Eastern Central Florida. It’s been raining cats and dogs here every day for months. My work shoes have many holes in them. The mid grade rubber muck boots I bought years ago are a bit too small and uncomfortable to work in for very long. Having narrow feet makes it really hard to get work boots and shoes that fit without spending a fortune. Thursday I’d finally had enough of choosing between wet mud in my shoes or very sore and blistered dry feet. I found a good pair of nice rubber and neoprene steel toe Muck boots that fit… at about $130 for the pair… ouch. Figuring I’d never again find a pair that fit again (or they’d be more $) I bit the bullet and bought them.

The streak of heavy rain every day at my place is broken. 10 or 15 minutes of very light rain yesterday. No rain today. None forecast until at least Wednesday and then it’s only a 50 percent chance. The correlation between holey shoes and lousy boots to heavy rainfall is confirmed with 100% confidence. Dry weather correlated with good, comfortable waterproof boots is also has a very high confidence level… no CO2 necessary. I will put my accuracy up against a “peer reviewed” Climateer any day of the week.

Ah, yes…the infamous method of ending a spate of weather.

To end a dry spell…wash your car.
To prevent a killing frost…cover all your just transplanted tomato plants.

    • SteveO says:

You also need to disparage those “flat solers” who don’t agree with the boot-rain theory.

      • nielszoo says:

I refuse to release the code to my boot model, but I will try very hard to get one of those “Victoria’s Secret” ladies to model the boots. I bet that would convince them.

    • nielszoo says:

… but not my typos. Boy I wish we could edit.

    • rah says:

I have found that buying better quality and thus higher priced boots pays off in the long run. Not only in comfort but in durability.

    • SMS says:

Post hoc ergo propter hoc (Latin: “after this, therefore because of this”) is a logical fallacy (of the questionable cause variety) that states “Since event Y followed event X, event Y must have been caused by event X.” It is often shortened to simply post hoc.

Often used by climate scientists. Can be used to divine tornados and hurricanes following any eclipse of the moon.

  7. Eric Simpson says:

You know what else shows no correlation with CO2?
    Temperature:
    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WK_WyvfcJyg&info=GGWarmingSwindle_CO2Lag
Above, we have Gore deceptively lying (or at best being fully disingenuous) in order to maintain that there is clear evidence that CO2 causes warming.

In fact Gore had it backwards: the only thing that there’s evidence for is that changes in temperature causes changes in CO2 levels. Period. That should be the end of the story, but (most) people don’t know this very fundamental point. Probably around 97% of secondary school students have seen Al Gore’s tendentious “lawyer’s brief” movie, and believe Al Gore’s FALSE testimony in that movie. That is incredible. And these kids are the future voters and policy leaders. This is what we face. Watch the video above, and help spread the word about it somehow. Because *everybody* should see it at least once.. to help level the playing field in our battle against the leftist fear mongers. Thank you in advance. 8. Has anybody tried correlating CO2 and the number of people that have died of AIDS?

    • Gail Combs says:

The Complete List of BAD Things Caused by Global Warming
      http://www.numberwatch.co.uk/warmlist.htm

AIDS is at the head of the list.
Everything on the list is linked to where the MSM or Climastrologists claimed it.

      • rah says:

Makes one wonder when they’ll start a new version of the Salem Witch Trials.

        • Gail Combs says:

They are sending up trial balloons and have been for a while now. So this is a subject worth keeping an eye on.

Think about loony Lew and his paper ‘showing’ ‘deniers’ are crazy. Then you have the calls to arrest deniers and a professor (Who came out against the death penalty) calling for the death penalty for ‘deniers. Not to mention the idiots with torches and the video of children being blown-up for being ‘deniers’
          and assorted other tries.

The biggest threat is a loner or fringe groups getting violent like Timothy McVeigh who killed 168. For example, just recently 350.org leader Bill McKibben endorsed the antics of some 350.org members in Texas when the group show up at an Enbridge Executive’s home. link
That was peaceful but for how much longer with Obummer and his buddies in the MSM stirring the pot?

The precedence for violence has already been set and ALF/ELF actively recruit on College campuses. (Link has been disappeared by google.)

From the FBI on Eco -terrorism:

…The ELF advocates “monkeywrenching,” a euphemism for acts of sabotage and property destruction against industries and other entities perceived to be damaging to the natural environment. “Monkeywrenching” includes tree spiking, arson, sabotage of logging or construction equipment, and other types of property destruction. Speeches given by Jonathan Paul and Craig Rosebraugh at the 1998 National Animal Rights Conference held at the University of Oregon, promoted the unity of both the ELF and the ALF movements….

The most destructive practice of the ALF/ELF is arson. The ALF/ELF members consistently use improvised incendiary devices equipped with crude but effective timing mechanisms. These incendiary devices are often constructed based upon instructions found on the ALF/ELF websites. The ALF/ELF criminal incidents often involve pre-activity surveillance and well-planned operations. Members are believed to engage in significant intelligence gathering against potential targets, including the review of industry/trade publications, photographic/video surveillance of potential targets, and posting details about potential targets on the internet….

        • When I was 18 years old, and still living at home, a fairly young, female representative of Greenpeace, a group with whom I had never before had any contact despite having already graduated from college, paid me a surprise visit at my home (on the suggestion of a family member whose name will not be mentioned) regarding the possibility of their recruiting me as a member. She was making progress with me until she broached the subject of whether I would be willing to engage in sabotage-type activities if I were recruited. I politely expressed skepticism that I would be willing to do such things. The young lady, without saying anything more about the subject (either supportive or critical of such actions) quickly excused herself, and I never heard from her or anyone else in her organization, ever again. So, beware. They can be very bold in their pursuit of their chosen objectives. And it would appear that their MO is for older members to be on the lookout for “fresh blood” so to speak, that they can indoctrinate and then direct to do their riskiest jobs for them.
