“A cloud-seeding trial has begun in Queensland’s drought-stricken south-east following months of delays.”

Just what we need, another scare campaign.

  3. Mike Davis says:

While it is possible and it has happened in the past that year round ice has formed almost that fast. The odds are against it. Most likely it will be a gradual situation with increasing glaciers at high altitudes and latitudes. A continued slowing of the Gulf Stream will speed up the process but not quite that fast. It would almost require a return to the conditions of the Younger Dryas and AFAIK even that period took longer than 5 years to reach year round ice cover or even the extent of ice he is talking about. A major Volcano about now could trigger such an event!
    Scary Bedtime stories!!!!
A Giant intergalactic Monster is coming to swallow the Earth whole!!

  4. PJB says:

“What I mean is that global warming is natural. Some 130,000 years ago the earth’s temperature was the same as now, the level of CO2 was almost the same and the level of the sea was four metres higher.

“They keep warning people about global warming, but half of America no longer believes it as they keep freezing,” he said.

And he added: “The reality is that mankind needs to start preparing for the ice age. We are at the end of the global warming period. The ice age is to follow. The global warming period should have ended a few thousands of years ago, we should have already been in the ice age. Therefore we do not know precisely when it could start – but soon.”

Seems to me that the Vostok cores show the “decline” from inter-glacial to glaciation taking from 50 to 500 years or so. So, from 1998 we have about 38 years….at least!

  5. R. de Haan says:

This statement should not be regarded as a scare campaign.

There are many scientists who share Professor Paar’s insights.

Just realize that contrary to the warmists these scientists present sound
scientific reasoning to back up their predictions.

Many of them have been studying their subject all their lives.

So the logical, sensible thing would be to prepare for the bad and ignore the good.

I take people like Professor Paar serious.
It wouldn’t harm if our political establishment would do the same because the real disaster looms with cold, not with heat.

We have seen the havoc caused by a little snow and frost on public transport, agriculture and life stock during the past year.

    Let it be a warning.

    • Mike Davis says:

I have no problem with the cooling and think it started 5 thousand years ago give or take a few thousand years. I do not think the speed is reasonable.
I consider myself in the same group claiming the long term trend is cooling and the short recent past that the Chicken Little Brigade Has been crowing about is leading humanity towards a bigger problem.
I have been preparing for colder temperatures!

      • Mike Davis says:

I realize that using extreme examples is the best way to get attention. I do not like using extremes or preparing for the 1 in a thousand situations.

  6. Paul H says:

An open invitation for our warmist friends.

Would you rather see an increase of say 2C than a drop of that magnitude?

  7. not too worried about ice over Europe.

My refrigerator was too cold once and there was ice in my Bass Ale. Now that is cause for concern.

  8. Bruce says:

Rubbish. If you look at the rate of temperature decline at the start of previous ice ages it is only about 0.05-0.1C/decade at its speediest.

Ice ages, like glaciers, may be inexorable, but they are not quick.

    • Mike Davis says:

You need to look closer to the historical records!
Smoothing removes the signal and leaves a “Fuzzy Warm” illusion about what really happened in the past. For evidence look at the Hockey Stick and its progeny.
Two more years like the last 3 and we will again see what was experienced in the opening years of the LIA! Technology has made modern civilization a bit better prepared but the AGW crowd are doing their best to counter that preparedness.
While over thousands of years it will appear to be .1C per decade globally, regionally it was extreme shifts in seasonal climate on a yearly bases. Remember the tropics do not change over long periods of time relative to the polar regions.

  9. Chris Vaughn says:

Here is a link to data showing the natural cycle of the interglacial / glacial periods over the past from ice corps etc. You may note that mostly there are glacial periods, with 100k yrs of glacial followed by 10k yrs of interglacial. There are even charts that show the timeline of recent events. As far as the Younger Dryas goes, that was a small bump in the road during a time when the climate was beginning to warm, then abruptly changed to colder for about a thousand plus years. You can see it in the cycle chart shown on the link, it is the small downward jig about 12 k yrs ago. Make up your own minds but look at the data from paleoclimatology…

    http://www.ncdc.noaa.gov/paleo/abrupt/data2.html

Wikipedia has a good paleoclimatology as well you can go as deep as you want by clicking on the charts (it will take you deeper into that part of the article)…

    • Mike Davis says:

WIKI has the name William Connoley attached to anything regarding climate. This gives the article the same value as it would have being presented by Greenpeace, WWF, Sierra Club, or any other ECO Terrorist organization. NOAA needs to justify their existence and want to expand their empire.
Take these with a large grain of salt because they both are a means to achieve a goal which leads to Bias!
