NASA : Sun’s Conveyer Belt Slowest And Fastest On Record – At The Same Time

NASA introduced hotcold and slowfast in 2010.

One pill makes you larger
And one pill makes you small
And the ones that mother gives you
Don’t do anything at all
Go ask Alice
When she’s ten feet tall

    Congratulations, Steven !!

This one is a true gem. How does Hathaway get away with all this crap ?? Only a government worker or a weather forecaster can be so wrong and keep his job, I guess.

    AGWers? *chirp* *chirp*

Old sol is experiencing a two speed economy

Excellent post Steve. I clearly remember the 2006 article. Absolutely unbelievable Hathaway goes back and does a complete 180 and totally changes his story. He has no idea WTF is going on, does he?

    • Mike Davis says:

      Matt:
That was my first reaction also: WTF! On further thought it fits many of his previous statements because in 2006 he was still pushing the current cycle to be large.

  6. Philip Finck says:

Hmmmm……… If I get this right, in 2006 the belts were moving very slowly so theory at that time suggested a deep solar minimum around 2026. However, since then the northern belt has sped up and Hathaway thinks that this explains the present solar minimum…….. opposite prior theory and minus the 20 year time lag.

But according to the old theory he shouldn’t be looking at present belt speeds to explain current solar min. / max. but the belt speeds between 1986 and 1990.

So what were the belt speeds at that time? I presume he looked at that time period before throwing out the theory.

Of course hot has become cold so why not fast become low?

    • the sun’s Great Conveyor Belt has been running at record-high speeds *for the past five years*

      • Mike Davis says:

That is an awful long NASCAR Race! 😉 I wonder what method he is using to measure LAP speeds? I would suggest Inserting Hansen and additional EXPERTS into the conveyor belt at various locations to determine if it is the entire belt of just a local phenomena! The entire group of “Solar” does not effect the climate would give them a good sample! It would also give the Climatologist first hand experience measuring the solar activity! 😉
        SIM Solar told him so!!!!

  8. Glen Shevlin says:

He has I believe been using the SOHO observatory data for both articles, so there is a problem of some kind here. If it is a new interpretation of the data an explaination is in order, if it is in order to conform with the the “consensus” a beating is in order

  9. UnXman says:

piss on it to slow it down throw gasoline on it to speed it up… like a camp fire.. right?
