   I guess it is news because a reportedly independent review team has just invalidated GISS. Mind you, that is something we’ve known for a while anyway.

   Why do they always assume that agreement means it backs their explanation for the shape of the curve? It does no such thing. The explanation is the same as it always was, mostly due to solar effects and the PDO/AMO. CO2 has a minor effect. But Dr Trenberth would not be seen dead saying that.
