Never mind that we have had record or near record snow four out of the last five years and that the river is flooding, we have a preconceived notion we have to fit …..
It’s the middle of June and the snowpack in Northern Colorado’s mountains is still thick and full of water. But a new U.S. Geological Survey study released Thursday shows that this year’s robust snowpack across the region is not normal in the context of the past three decades, when anthropogenic, or human-caused, climate change has been causing Colorado’s snowpack to progressively shrink.
They just tried to redefine “normal” again………
Now normal is with “when anthropogenic, or human-caused, climate change”
Now normal is abby-normal when it’s normal…………
If I were a fearmonger I would spread worry about another Little Ice Age – but I will refrain. 😉
I find it amazing that even when they are wrong they are right. 🙁
Lack of snow = global warming
Too much snow = global climate abnormality?
What about average snow?????
Sometimes I don’t know weather (no spelling mistake) to laugh or cry. 🙂 🙁
Cherry picking again, “is not normal in context of the last three decades”.
What about the prior three decades? The snowfall records of 1950- 1980 do not count? With that logic one would assume that the snows of our youth never happen except in ones own faulty memory banks and photographs. Just more propaganda from the government that has gone from the Constitution to the motto of “of the left, by the left, for the left”.
Could have been worse: ‘snowpack across the region is not normal in the context of the past 12 months’
I’m sure the people who get flooded, will shake their heads when they read this, and say WTF I thought snow was a thing of the past
Gee, since when did tree-rings become proxies for precipitation?
Mikey Mann told us categorically that those Bristlecone pines were spot-on tree-mometers for temperature!
So confusing . . . . . ;—}
Using tree ring samples to reconstruct the size of mountain snowpack over the past millennium, USGS researchers were able to show that reductions in the size of the mountain snowpack across the West during the past 30 years is unusual when considering the size of the mountain snowpack each year during the past three centuries.

They just said that cold causes more snow……not warm
when anthropogenic, or human-caused, climate change has been causing Colorado’s snowpack to progressively shrink.
This is clearly false. I haven’t looked at Colorado’s snowpack history, but I don’t have to, unless their are asserting ACC is not a global event and is confined to the American west.
Look here for what is “normal” for North America in the last 30 years…… http://suyts.files.wordpress.com/2011/06/image_thumb7.png?w=829&h=499

The mainstream media repeats AGW talking points ad nauseum, with the hope that the vast majority of their audience won’t question it, such as dying snowpacks/falling lake levels. It’s positively staggering how long they’ve gotten away with this, but it can’t possibly last. We have to remember that we outnumber the MSM, and unrelenting pressure will have results.
Please see my latest article for one of the other oft-repeated MSM talking points and the dilemma it poses for them: “Will MSM Look into the Global Warming Abyss and Find Their Character?” http://bigjournalism.com/rcook/2011/06/07/will-msm-look-into-the-global-warming-abyss-and-find-their-character/
