Lots of things were different in the Pliocene. If we assume that CO2 controls all natural processes – like Hansen does – look for a return of giant pigs.

To double the atmospheric CO2, we would have to emit 50 times the amount of CO2 currently in the atmosphere because the oceans partition CO2 50 to 1 versus air. There is simply not enough CO2 to make this happen. Maybe 20%, not more.
BUT, if the oceans warmed, CO2 can skyrocket in the atmosphere for obvious reasons, a la Henry’s Law.
