Holdren 1997 : Ten Degrees Warming In The US

The Free Lance-Star – Google News Archive Search

This was before Hansen tampered with the data set. As of 1997, Hansen’s US temperature graph showed more than 1F cooling during the previous 70 years – yet Holdren predicted 10F warming over the next 50 years.

“But ‘economists’ (??) argue …. that there is only one way to wean industries from … coal and oil.” No non-leftist economists have called for weaning us from coal and oil. Wuwt just did a post on aglor’s spouting that “dirty energy = dirty weather.” Right. My wuwt comment:

“Clean Energy” is a myth. It takes more “dirty” resources to create a given amount of green energy, hence the massive subsidies to make it viable. The cost of green energy is profound: higher energy costs for us all, and a huge amount of pointless down the drain govt spending (this is a prime cause of the European financial crisis!).
Now ‘clean’ energy becomes another means to further demonize our normal, trusted, essential energy sources like oil and gas. It is another front opened up in their war on energy.
Yes, it’s a war on energy alright. And it has nothing to do with climate, and the leftist prosecutors of this war understand that global warming, er… climate change, is little more than a pretense to facilitate this war on energy, on industrial civilization. And “clean energy” is just a facade used by the fear-mongers to obscure the fact that they are against energy in any form.

“In searching for a new enemy to unite us … the threat of global warming.. fit the bill….It does not matter if this common enemy is a real one or….one invented for the purpose.” -Club of Rome
“Isn’t the only hope for this planet the total collapse of industrial civilisation? Is it not our responsibility to ensure that this collapse happens?” -Maurice Strong, ex UNEP Director
“A massive campaign must be launched to de-develop the United States… [we] must design a stable, low-consumption economy.” -John Holdren (1973), Obama’s Science Czar

    Envisat drifting phase

    New

At the end of October 2010, the orbit of the Envisat satellite was lowered by 17 km, putting it into a new “drifting phase” or “Extended Mission” orbit with a 30-day repeat cycle. In this new orbit, they will not be doing any orbit adjustments so the satellite will start to drift. At the ESA Living Planet Symposium of June-July 2010, they announced that they had modified the plan for the “drifting phase” orbit of Envisat to have the “fixed nodes” of the orbit at 38 degrees N on the descending tracks and 38 degrees S on the ascending tracks instead of the previous plan to have them both at the equator. This means that we should get good baselines within about 4-6 degrees of latitude from those two fixed nodes. At other locations, the baselines will increase rapidly with time but 30-day or 60-day interferograms will probably be OK.

Envisat is now in the new orbit and functioned completely from November 2010 to April 2012. ESA was accepting new acquisition requests. Of course, all of the new “drifting phase” tracks are completely different and can’t be used with any old data from the original phase. It is like starting a new mission. Unfortunately, ESA lost contact with Envisat on 8 April 2012.

Clinton seems fairly reasonable there. Much more reasonable than causing our bills to go up in a period of a very unstable economy.
