The USHCN data I have been plotting for the entire US has a warming bias to it. The density of USHCN stations is higher in the northeast, where there has been a warming trend.
By contrast, Texas has a much lower density of stations, and shows a cooling trend.
If the stations were area weighted, we would likely see an even stronger cooling trend in the US – which already looks more like Texas than New Jersey.
Hansen is more scientific about this. He heavily weights the high Arctic region (which is about the size of the US) where he has no thermometers.
Steve, you have done a great job documenting the lack of warming! Am hoping you are able to get the info out to some major media outlets, like the recent Forbes article, so that the public can be informed. Of course, the alamists in that case will trot out their fraudulent Hansen crafted data set and cry wolf for the millionth time. Also call for crimes against humanity tribunals. See you at the gulag!
You document why I pay no attention to the warped data put out by the governemnt agencies and parroted by the main stream news . I observe in my area here in Oregon that we are having a fairly average year with possibly a little cooling. It has been a good year for crops so far and we in this area are thankfull. The rain has held off for the most part and the dry weather has allowed better bug and fungi control and has allowed good hay and grain harvests. We are combating the new strains of fruit flies and other type bugs that have moved in or been imported from asia so it seems there is always something after the crop but we do seem to have a handle on that for now. We will see how long that lasts as it seems the epa and other agencies with control over pesticide use don’t like us to be successfull in our quest to supply our country with fruit. We have a government gone wild . They want a good salary and all the perks but keep hammering the very people working to make this country successfull. If we eliminated the government agencies the regular people would make the system work . That concept is what made us great and these agencies are parasites and a weight around our necks. Without them we could balance the budget and thrive.
Where is the Aurora, IL station? The one on the map is too far SW.
I don’t know, but a substantial percentage of my fraternity house at ASU was from Aurora, and they used to drive Coors beer home from Christmas – because you couldn’t buy it east of the Rockies.

Humm? Do his artic stations get the full benefit of his 1200 Km spread?
