Driving A Prius Can Prevent A Worldwide Epidemic Of Asthma

During the 2008 presidential campaign, it was believed that Obama would seek to reduce CO2, a leading greenhouse gas that has been linked to asthma and other respiratory illnesses, either through a carbon tax or a cap-and-trade program.

We have to stop all asthmatics exhaling to keep CO2 levels safe for them.

Premature babies receive increased CO2 to help their lungs develop. The lunacy of trying to link CO2 to respiratory problems is beyond belief. I’m convinced that most of these people think they are dealing with soot and all references to “carbon” encourage that belief. The ignorance and flat-out lies is astounding. They should read up on why people, who suffer panic attacks, breathe into a paper bag. They must increase the CO2 in their blood otherwise serious complications will result. Maybe they should warn them to stay out of crowded rooms or close to another person who is exhaling CO2 at 40,000ppm. Of course, stay away from carbonated beverages. Drinking CO2 is a known cause of excessive bloating and burping which can lead to embarrassment and of course global warming.

It’s time to remove catalytic converters off autos since they convert hydrocarbons to CO2. How can they allow this?

Miss Julia is about to have her azz handed to her in Australia because of carbon taxes. The left is so addicted to spending money, they have finally started to tax the air we breathe. That use to be a joke, but now it’s happening and hard to believe people are this stupid and gullible.

    • A better strategy might be to blame soda drinks for obesity and then draw attention to the fact that there is CO2 in there as well. If you’re grasping for a straw, this might be your best option.

Nah, don’t need a straw, I’m a nose-thumper, besides straws can encourage gas….there’s that gas again.

gofer – Premature babies DO NOT receive increased CO2 to help their lungs develop. People having a panic attack hyperventilate and blow off CO2 creating a respiratory alkalosis, and breathing into a paper bag just helps restore the blood pH to normal. The alkalosis isn’t really harmful, but respiratory acidosis from too much CO2 can be fatal (but the level required is orders of magnitude higher than the atmosphereic concentration).

There is no link between increased atmospheric CO2 concentrations and the incidence of asthma, let alone causation. Increased SOx, NOx, and particulates may be causative, but there is not identical overlap between maps of the U.S. showing asthma prevalence with concentrations of above pollutants.

Though the article is old (2009), IL might decide it needs the tax to balance the budget and pay off the public sector unions who have ridiculous pensions (e.g. a high school art teacher who retired at age 55, Masters’ degree, making 100K + health ins benefits, plus annual COLA adjustments – source personal knowledge).

    • gofer says:

John, both my twin grandbodys were premature by quiet a bit and I’m not sure where I got that info. Maybe in one of my sleepless, dyslexic moments, I twisted things up. I know they were given oxygen and was assuming some component of that was CO2, but in my state at the time, I could have misunderstood anything. They were in CC for a month and it was touch and go for a while. They looked like small rats and could easily hold one of them in your palm. I also had asthma and bronchitis until I was about 15 and I remember coal wet weather was what really got to me. Thanks for the info and for setting me straight.

Somebody told me that “man driving Prius” means “gay”

Nothing wrong with that. Except if a Hearse takes me to my grave in a Prius, I’ll come back and haunt the driver forever
