Reblogged this on Climate Ponderings.
thanks!….I needed this
Not sure Steve why you say slowest tornado season and second slowest fire season on record when the links show data only going back to 2004-2005. C’mon, you’re better than that. Up your game and don’t lose credibility.
We are very close to the minimum inflation-adjusted tornado count going back to 1954, the second year in a row of very very low totals. That is a strong point – 2012 was no fluke. The alarmists blamed the record heat and drought for 2012, an excuse invalid in 2013.
The warmists posting on Huff Po are idiots – present them a mountain of data and they still spout their narrative.
Do you like splitting hairs? The counting methods and accuracy have changed over time. No one really knows exactly how many tornadoes there are per year, and less so in the past. It is close enough using that apples for apples comparison.
Don’t leave an opening for the warmists to attack.
Since when do facts make any difference to climate alarmists? The numbers are close enough, and they are backed up by official government sources. These stats are not an exact science.
The ACE graphs here http://policlimate.com/tropical/,
this http://www.aoml.noaa.gov/hrd/hurdat/All_U.S._Hurricanes.html
and this http://www1.ncdc.noaa.gov/pub/data/cmb/images/tornado/clim/EF3-EF5.png from here http://www.ncdc.noaa.gov/oa/climate/severeweather/tornadoes.html
are so much harder for the morons in the warmosphere to refute.
And yes, originally trained in engineering like yourself, I do split hairs.
🙂
Science is not engineering. We are dealing with people who are off by 100%, and their polarity is reversed.
+/- 5% measurement disagreement between different methods is not important.
Show them their excuse for few tornadoes in 2012, and how they don’t have the same excuse this year.
Antarctic sea ice two standard deviations above the mean. Don’t mention it.
However if arctic ice extent continues growing and for some reason antarctic ice starts declining, I think we will need to really start worrying about the antarctic and the arctic is played anyway. So played…
Here’s my take away:
No models predicted this
Flies in the face of Man-Made CO2 catastrophists – it ain’t happening
Earth could be cooling
We don’t know why or how it is cooling; nor would we know why it was warming; CO2 is only one (weak) explanation of warming
Media and politicians are proceeding as if it is:
1) warming (it clearly is not)
2) Warming is bad (not necessarily so)
3) It is all Man-Made (utter conjecture – probably utter nonsense)
This is more a study in sociology and mass hysteria than anything remotely resembling physical science.
