More on Global Warming: A Warm-Weather Beetle is Eating the World’s Coffee ….. According to science writer Erica Westley, “A tiny insect known as the coffee berry borer beetle has been devastating coffee plants around the world, and new research suggests even slight temperature increases promote the spread of the pest”:
It is simply amazing that life has survived for billions of years, given that it is so sensitive to even minute changes in temperature.
Everything changes. If it didn’t, life would die of boredom.
It couldn’t possibly be the creation of large coffee plantations where the beatle can run rampant.
I don’t think that attitude helps the cause.
Reminiscent of the Pine Beetle fantasy. If they were truly so sensitive to temperature, then two or three years of -3F anomaly should have knocked them out. But I’ve got those little suckers in my backyard.
Thank god I gave up coffee (caffeine). 😉
