Alarmist Scientist Begins Her Rehabilitation

The end is near (for climate alarmism.) High priestess Susan Solomon admits she was wrong.

An increase in atmospheric water vapor is responsible for at least a third of the average temperature increase since the early 1990s, say scientists at the US National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA). Susan Soloman, the respected climate scientist who lead the research, says that this finding does not undermine man-made global warming theories. “Not to my mind it doesn’t,” she said. Soloman did point out that the research does allude to human emissions having a much smaller role in climate change than previously thought, and serves as a warning to climate modelers who “over-interpret the results from a few years one way or another.” Despite Soloman’s personally held belief, the NOAA study is expected to give further ammunition to climate skeptics working to draw public attention to perceived flaws in man-made global warming theories.

Sorry! She still got it backwards. A decrease in H2O / Cloud Cover was the leading contributor the warming.
Of course the major cause was adjusted temperature records that reduced pre 90s temperatures to make the 90s temperatures look warmer.
With 5 parameters you can build an elephant and with one more you can make it fly!
that is a comment from a lecture about modeling to show the fallacy of believing in your model results.
Susan just makes it sooo easy for realists to attack her claims!

LOL! I did actually read that as “decrease” initially. Seeing what I was expecting to see, I guess. It would certainly make a lot more sense

What say we give the lady a pass, and ascribe it to a journalistic “typo” (:-

Steve, that’s huge!!! I can’t get the link to work from the national post. Do anyone have a link to the actual study?

    “Dr. McCoy!”, “Bones!”…………….”It’s dead, Jim.”

Well, well, well.(with smug condescending look on my face..) ๐Ÿ™‚ So that evil H2O may play a part in our climate after all. Now where have I heard that before?

Only one question comes to mind. Will they give all of us skeptics that regularly comment on the blogs part of the Nobel peace prize that is sure to follow?

So, climate scientists ARE still capable of rational thought, even one who has formerly chaired an IPCC committee. Getting their work published in “Science” to boot.

Could this be the beginning of the end for Climate Change hysteria?

Where’s the paper/report/whatever? The link in the link 403’d me.

A NOAA article that references it, but no link to the article itself……..hmmm.

GRRRR, behind a paywall, but here’s the abstract.

  7. suyts says:

Hmm, turns out the news is a bit dated. Its over a year old, but its the first I’ve heard of it.

  8. SMS says:

When you properly account for the UHI and bogus adjustments, that doesn’t leave much room for CO2 as a climate driver.

    • Mike Davis says:

CO2 is really cooling the globe and we will hear about that the middle of February when they are trying to find another scare story to spread!

    Original article date: 1/29/2010

Check out the last line of the NOAA article:
NOAA understands and predicts changes in the Earth’s environment, from the depths of the ocean to the surface of the sun, and conserves and manages our coastal and marine resources.

    Still sure of themselves…

  10. Well, she next to get the loving tar and feathering from global warmers who she used to live quietly amongst.
