They started with this bold campaign two weeks ago.

That quickly got demoted.
FOR THE RECORD:
Climate scientists: An article in the Nov. 8 Section A about a campaign by scientists to push back against congressional conservatives who have attacked the concept of global warming reported that the American Geophysical Union is mobilizing 700 scientists to provide information on climate change. The union is a nonpartisan scientific organization and is not a participant in the campaign —
Now the 700 scientists are down to John Cook
ROFLMAO
Can anyone explain why the AGU refers questions to John Cook’s Skeptical Science website? He has no special expertise in climate science, as he states on his about page:
“Skeptical Science is maintained by John Cook. He studied physics at the University of Queensland, Australia. After graduating, he majored in solar physics in his post-grad honours year. He is not a climate scientist. …”
AGW science is targeted at lazy people that don’t even want to think for themselves. Hence it makes sense to just point to SS, where issues have the appearance of having been explored already, so everybody thinks they’ve done their bit.
They should refer everything to Richard Lindzen, a climate scientist.
F M:
AGU disowned any connection to this farce right after it was announced. It appears someone was using the AGU name for the press release to give it more authority.
Mike – Thanks for the explanation!
So “40 scientists have come together to form the “climate rapid response team.” Led by Dr. John Abraham of St. Thomas University, the rapid response team is an informal group of scientists who have decided to put their spare time to use fielding media questions about climate science, and even going up against hostile anti-science …”
The best they can do is point to a website by John Cook, who has no special qualifications in these matters? That’s just sad.
Yes, it is a joke.
ROFLMAO
was my response before i even got to the end
skepticalscience.com is a last ditch attempt by AGW alarmists to make their case for AGW seem ‘scientific’. The website is for gulliable climate alarmists, who see it as giving a ‘scientific basis’ for their religion. Lubos has completely debunked the whole website here http://motls.blogspot.com/2010/03/john-cook-skeptical-science.html
I think Jo Nova sums up what the whole website really is, in her reply to one of Cook’s articles http://joannenova.com.au/2010/06/how-john-cook-unskeptically-believes-in-a-hotspot-that-thermometers-cant-find/
“Instead, he misquotes me, shies away from actually displaying the damning graphs I use, gets a bit confused about the difference between a law and a measurement, unwittingly disagrees with his own heroes, and misunderstands the climate models he bases his faith on. Not so “skeptical” eh John? He’s put together a page of half-truths and sloppy errors and only took 21 months to do it.”
By the way, has any of you seen a photo of John Cook. I nearly fell of my chair in shock. Here it is http://lh5.ggpht.com/_gmR8fkmAnjw/S6mEPUJG0xI/AAAAAAAAAw4/mGNeSNCJQ1Q/JohnCookSkep190.jp but I warn you, it ain’t pretty.
He should go on the Telly. That would scare everyone into believing ACC! Or NOT!
