Met Office : Last Decade Warming Faster And Slower As Expected

The Met Office needs to coordinate their official disinformation campaign better.

The Guardian, Friday 26 November 2010 :
The world warmed more rapidly than previously thought over the past decade, according to a Met Office report published today

BBC, 25 November 2010 :
Dr Pope says the slowdown in temperature rise is consistent with projections from climate models. She also says she expects warming to increase in the next few years.
“The long-term warming trend is 0.16C,” she says. “In the last 10 years the rate decreased to between 0.05 and 0.13.

  1. MikeTheDenier says:

When telling lie after lie it’s difficult to keep track of the lies being told.

  2. Mike Davis says:

Any weather pattern is consistent with the climate models. If the GLOBAL temperature was declining by 3C per year it would be consistent with the models. If a glacier formed over the MET office next week it would be consistent with the climate models and if palm trees started growing along the English Channel it would be consistent with what the models predict.

    • Red Jeff says:

Hi Mike! Palm trees do grow in parks and gardens in Britain. Plocton Bay in Ross.shire have them near the beach. It’s due to the Gulf Stream hitting the shore. I kid you not!!

      All the best…. Jeff

      • Mike Davis says:

Then the climate models were right! 🙂

      • I remember seeing a palm tree on the beach in Ullapool, Scotland in 1970. Ullapool is only 10 degrees south of the Arctic Circle.

      • Mike Davis says:

OK so I should have picked a plant that is a little more cold tender to make my point. I did claim the Channel side of the island rather than the west that is affected by the Gulf Stream.
Certain types of palms can be cold hardy as they grew in Las Vegas with temperatures in the teens and lower.

    • Peter says:

Mike, a Canadian whose name escapes me expressed this mathematically:

      Global warming = X
      X can be anything.

  3. Mike Davis says:

The only reliable claim from the MET is, We do not know!

  4. suyts says:

Eric Arthur Blair’s most poignant statement in his work and clearest warning.
“There will be no curiosity, no enjoyment of the process of life. All competing pleasures will be destroyed. But always—do not forget this, Winston(world)—always there will be the intoxication of power, constantly increasing and constantly growing subtler. Always, at every moment, there will be the thrill of victory, the sensation of trampling on an enemy who is helpless. If you want a picture of the future, imagine a boot stamping on a human face—forever.
—Part III, Chapter III, Nineteen Eighty-Four

  5. They are full of BS. This decade however will show this to be true ,so we don’t have long to wait. We have these factors which will be and are phasing toward a colder mode which will cause a more substancial decline in temperatures going forwaArd.

They are solar activity, volcanic activity, atmospheric circulations such as aao, nao,ao,SOI oscillation, and PDO and AMO.

All these items are going into a colder mode, and the temperatures will follow suit, during this decade.

  6. truthsword says:

You will never see AGWers post on these theads.

  7. wws says:

only a depraved Climate Denier would claim that these two claims are in conflict with each other!

In fact that will be the future test – anyone who does not see the Moral Correctness and Pure Essence of *both* of these statements at the same time is UNCLEAN and not to be trusted!!!!

  8. Phil says:

Global cooling is proof of AGW, how can you not see the logic behind this scientific argument?

  9. justin ert says:

Yes, very contradictory. But did you see this one today too?
    http://www.telegraph.co.uk/earth/environment/climatechange/8159991/Global-warming-has-slowed-because-of-pollution.html
Louise Gray has unearthed the best contradiction yet – man-made global warming has been reduced by man-made global cooling, and quotes the papal Vicky Pope of the Met Office Climate Vatican:
““A possible increase in aerosol emissions from Asia in the last decade may have contributed to substantially to the recent slowdown,” [of the reduced rate of warming]… “Aerosols cool the climate by reflecting the sunlight.”
    As Louise Gray gushes:
“One of the major factors is pollution over Asia, where the huge growth in coal-fired power stations mean aerosols like sulphur are being pumped into the air. This reflects sunlight, cooling the land surface temperature.”
So there we have it, coal energy production cools the planet and warms it simultaneously.
Pope has also been quoted today in the Mirror, this time blaming ships for poor temperature readings:
    http://www.mirror.co.uk/advice/cash-queens/2010/11/26/world-is-warming-faster-115875-22742032/
All this goes to show that MSM climate journalism across the board from tabloid to broadsheet is so utterly discombobulated with the climate narrative, that there is now no coherent warmist message at all.

    HARRY READ ME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  11. 1DandyTroll says:

Hey, maybe they’re right those hippies about that the world has warmed because my mitts have gotten ever warmer over the years. :-()

  12. Doug Proctor says:

I take it the rate described is 0.16, 0.5 & 0.13K/year, or 1.6, 0.5 & 1.3/100 years. The rate at which AGW is “mostly” to blame is >1.8/100 years, right? And CAGW is 2.5K/100 years? So, still, we are in the not-CO2 or disaster scenario, and trending right now seriously below that.

When does “normal” warming come back? Or is that impossible …

  13. Colin Henderson says:

If I understand this correctly burning dirty coal, and polluting the atmosphere with particulate carbon and sulphur causes global cooling, and is therefore a good way of fighting AGW?

Go figure – coal, the new green energy!

  15. JohnOfEnfield says:

I am enjoying life at the moment – taking the argument against AGW to everyone I meet.

Shock and awe best describes their reaction.

  16. John Marshall says:

The Met Office keep stating decimals of a degree rises as being proof of global warming but their error bracket is +/- 1.0 C so their stated increases are so far inside their error bands as to be statistically insignificant. In fact they gave last years rise as 0.03C. Not even noticeable on an accurate thermometer.

  17. Tom says:

    Repeat after me:

The world IS getting warmer faster and slower at the same time.

This is totally consistent with what we were expecting.

Oceania has always been at war with Eastasia.

    I LOVE YOU BIG BROTHER!

  19. pyeatte says:

The warmists have a beautiful model – it predicts everthing happening, or not, no matter what it is. In other words, no matter what happens, it was predicted! You would think the universities that gave them their PhDs might want them returned.

    • Mike Davis says:

The universities have turned into corporate Diploma Mills. The concern is return on investment and providing compensation packages to the administration group.
The proud Alumni need to get heir heads out of the sand and look closely at what their Alma Mater is turning out.

      • peterhodges says:

exactly. i saw in my most recent dept alumni letter my alma mater has 2 people publishing climate change crap. i about dropped my jaw.

who is funding these people? what the hell do they do besides sit around writing apologetic CAGW nonsense? teach basic logic to english majors? we’re talking basically a podunk philosophy dept who’s only funded positions beyond basic staffing have been associatted with $$ generating cutting edge medical school research at the university.

if i ever ‘win the lottery’ maybe i will fund a ‘classical liberal’ chair. and then apply for the job 😉

  20. Robert of Ottawa says:

Seriously, any theory that is proved or demonstrated by contrary, and even mutually exclusive, facts should be discarded, along with the modellers, their models and their super-duper computer toys.

  21. Robert of Ottawa says:

I wonder what Guardianistas are thinking about all of this in Hemel Hempstead.

Current weather in South England, as rported by the BBC (so it MUST be true).
