“It cannot be said that individual extreme weather events are directly caused by climate change. However, various extreme events will increase in both intensity and number,” Dr. Pachauri said, referring, for instance, to the floods in Australia.
Disrupting the Borg is expensive and time consuming!

It is total speculation that extreme weather events would increase with warming. It is just convenient to pretend that every aspect of warming will be bad. It begs credibility that EVERY aspect of warming would be bad.
As storms are based on heat engines which are driven by temperature differences, if the oceans and the atmosphere warm, the difference would be less.
The evidence is that the biggest difference occurs during periods of cooling climate, with the oceans lagging behind the atmosphere. During these periods storms are stronger.
Pachauri is an idiot. He blathers everything that will alarm people, just like James Hansen. Pachauri would be out of the position, if he was to admit that warming is not happening. Warming is his raison d’etre.
I wonder how many years they’ll be saying extreme weather “will” get worse, before they actually realise it isn’t being any different from before any AGW scare started.

Australia’s ‘worst floods in half century’
Floods or drought? Which shall it be IPCC. Australia is a very large country. Never make predictions, especially about the future.
