Other than the debate on health care, the battle over cap and trade legislation was arguably one of the hottest during the first half of President Barack Obama’s first term. Now, with the reality that the carbon dioxide limiting legislation is dead, Carol M. Browner is set to resign from her post as the president’s global warming czar.
Disrupting the Borg is expensive and time consuming!

Sorry, Steve, but that’s already a done deal. Was reported earlier today by most news organizations here. Good riddance, but, I bet we haven’t seen the last of her.
But here is something to chew on….
“To make way for the regular and lasting Motions of the Planets and Comets, it’s necessary to empty the Heavens of all Matter, except perhaps some very thin Vapours, Steams or Effluvia, arising from the Atmospheres of the Earth, Planets and Comets, and from such an exceedingly rare Æthereal Medium … A dense Fluid can be of no use for explaining the Phænomena of Nature, the Motions of the Planets and Comets being better explain’d without it. It serves only to disturb and retard the Motions of those great Bodies, and make the frame of Nature languish: And in the Pores of Bodies, it serves only to stop the vibrating Motions of their Parts, wherein their Heat and Activity consists. And as it is of no use, and hinders the Operations of Nature, and makes her languish, so there is no evidence for its Existence, and therefore it ought to be rejected. And if it be rejected, the Hypotheses that Light consists in Pression or Motion propagated through such a Medium, are rejected with it.
And for rejecting such a Medium, we have the authority of those the oldest and most celebrated philosophers of ancient Greece and Phoenicia, who made a vacuum and atoms and the gravity of atoms the first principles of their philosophy, tacitly attributing Gravity to some other Cause than dense Matter. Later Philosophers banish the Consideration of such a Cause out of natural Philosophy, feigning Hypotheses for explaining all things mechanically, and referring other Causes to Metaphysicks: Whereas the main Business of natural Philosophy is to argue from Phenomena without feigning Hypotheses, and to deduce Causes from Effects, till we come to the very first Cause, which certainly is not mechanical.“—–Newton
It doesn’t matter. It’s just a head fake to the Republicans. The EPA is already put in place co2 regulations. The president acted unilaterally in doing it. He don’t need no stinking Constitutional procedure.
Obama: What are you trying to tell me? That I can dodge bullets?
EPA: No, Mr. President I’m trying to tell you that when we’re ready, you won’t have to.
The Matrix (1999) – Memorable quotes
It sounds like Ms Browner resigned because the President refused to include carbon control in his policy outlined in the SOTUA. Good.
No way. That’s a head fake. The EPA will hurt most people and benefit those who they think deserve “social justice”. Watch the ball not the fake.
Yep.
exactly, you can’t listen to a thing he says, cause he says both.
Remember, this is the guy that said anyone can make anything out of him.
The second head fake may well be Ms Jackson also resigning. Then the sack in 2012 since head fakes only get you so far.
Being Aussie I’d say there is confusion whether Ms Browner ran herself out or whether it was her partners’ fault, but when in Rome speak American not cricketese.
Bruce,
I think Browner was forced out because Obama is on a reelection-in-2012 campaign. I think he will outwardly sacrifice some things to make himself look middle of the road in order to gain back some voters. He would lose badly if the election was held today. Behind the scenes he will still enact carbon policy through the EPA. He is not doing it publicly through the required channels. He is acting unilaterally. I have serious doubts he will remove Lisa Jackson. There is the saying about content of character and color of skin. The character is not really applying, it seems, but color does seem to be.
I think the only thing that will make President Obama stop his Marxist program is him not being in office. By the 2012 elections things could be so bad in the economy that no amount of maneuvering will help him win.
She resigned so she wouldn’t have to go in from of congress and answer questions she would rather not answer on the record.
I don’t think so.
I agree with you here, Life in Meteorites! HAHAHA! Even though you think Canada sucks. I am Canadian, So I don’t know what bad experiance you had with some other canadian, but HEY! We have arseholes, in Canada as you do in there too! HAHAHA! what else can I say! HAHAHAHA!
Sacraficial lamb.
Is this president still giving the same speech he gave two years ago?
yep
Same old tired BS……
Ms Browner “resigned” because her position was, ahem, “eliminated.”
Her position was “eliminated” because it was clear that Republicans would ask the Obama administration exactly what policy Ms Browner had established. (Answer: Anything that came outta Lisa Jackson’s mouth plus a whole lot more)
Rather than suffer through a protracted fight over “executive privilege” etc Mr Obama evidently concluded that the best thing to do would be to let Ms Browner find the door a bit more rapidly than she would have anyway (in two yeas, when Obama appointments have to look for other jobs).
I’m not sure what Carol will do, it isn’t possible for her to work on the Gus Hall for President campaign because he’s deceased.
By the way it would be interesting to know who was behind promoting really stinky people like Jackson, Browner, and Holdren to influential positions in the Obama administration.
Whoever it was (they were), must have thought they were doing Obama a big favor.
In reality, they couldn’t have harmed Obama and his “credibility” more than if they shot in in the legs.
Yep, the bigger they make them the faster and harded they fall!
