The New Boss Is The Same As The Old Boss

Is Darrell Issa planning to investigate climate science, or isn’t he?

Last September, before Republicans had even won the House and posted Issa atop the chamber’s main oversight committee, the California GOPer drafted a list of issues he believed should be investigated, and climate science made the cut. Issa specifically referred to a desire to investigate the so-called “ClimateGate” scandal and the scientific evidence underpinning climate regulations at the Environmental Protection Agency.

Shortly after the election, Issa downplayed his interest in the subject, citing “limited resources and limited time.”

Issa’s spokesman is vehemently denying any interest in the matter. From Politico’s Morning Energy today:

“As has already been stated numerous times, the Oversight and Government Reform Committee has no plans to investigate ‘Climate-Gate,'” Issa spokesman Kurt Bardella told POLITICO yesterday. “

The GOP has been in charge for a week effectively due to the circumstances in Arizona. Health care is priority number one. Issa has interest in many things including climate science, but he has to prioritize. Justice department, Czars, stimulus waste…climate science can wait.

Don’t you think Issa is just waiting to see what occurs in Virginia first?

Standard leftwing tactics – ignore them – they are now the party of the shrill 20% and can safely be ignored as “the fringe”.

All that’s now required is to roll back the Dem 35% spending increases in Federal outlay since 2007 and redirect most AGW spending into more profitable research avenues.

    bwahahahaha…

    told you so

nothing will change. as long as you folks continuing to vote for democrats and republicans, there will be only the continuing slide into totalitarianism in this country.

we will keep getting more debt, and more war. they are the twin pillars of the one party state.

money making scams like globalisation and carbon tax-trade are just sideshows in the grand cleptocracatic scheme of things anyways

O ye of little faith … But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.
      Matthew 4

      LOL

And vote tea party – eventually they will get it, one way or another…..

      • peterhodges says:

well i agree with his analysis of the politisation of the tuscon shooting.

but that’s about it. the assault on the middle class and destruction of america really began with reagan, he is certainly no anti-authoritarian hero.

i would suggest, both parties have long been bought out by the ruling class. there is no real left in this country. while the tea party movement may offer some light at the end of tunnel, mccain or palin are nothing more than your typical vacuous politicians spouting the highest bidders program.

        more war, and more debt!

      • BioBob says:

        we will see

palin certainly has not been bought at this point and she certainly evokes the very entertaining Palin Derangement Syndrome from the left.

Here is the best characterization of her that I have seen from another article on that page:

“Leftists loathe Palin because she has retained something that was stripped from them years ago: a wholesomeness, a purity of heart. People on the left despise Palin because she shines a bright light on their shame and unworthiness, which they try desperately to deny. ”
        Robin of Berkeley

You gotta love some politico that makes leftist kamikaze out

The GOP is selecting battles very carefully. Too carefully in my opinion. But they don’t want to be painted negatively before 2012. That is guiding much of their actions now. They’ve been burned before. Perhaps they think they need the bully pulpit to make their case on these issues. But I think they can still get the word out. If America sees why and the reasons make sense, I think (most) people would stand behind them, even if the medicine is painful.

    • “So then because thou art lukewarm, and neither cold nor hot, I will spue thee out of my mouth.”

Emulating John McCain is not a winning strategy.

      • Nobama says:

Agreed. America told them what we want. They seem to be missing how much we mean it. The story is that Gingrich tried to rule from the lower house, without having the white house, and was (in some ways) defeated. I suspect they’re afraid of a repeat.

But people want bold action now. We understand what is at stake. For many of the old guard, it seems they don’t.

      • peterhodges says:

common it’s all a sham. that’s why they take on impossible issues like repealing obamacare and ignore anything of substance

hell one of the first items on their agenda is renewing the patriot act.

i will grant that some of these ‘tea party’ newbies might be authentic but they don’t have a chance.

sorry bob, i will definitely look at your recommendation when i get a chance…

      • BioBob says:

we will see — i have a bit more faith in the tea party than you do. if that fails we always have recourse to other means….

  5. Nobama says:

Incidentally, this is why they need to go after GISS and NOAA. Audit every last calculation. Build a case for fraud, apply pressure, create some turncoats. Broaden the investigation and repeat the process. Once it is clear the temp record is a fraud, WHAT does ALL the other supporting information prove? If the temperature isn’t going up…. nothing. I don’t think you can make a case with falling temps, even if summer ice is still ebbing low. The one thing ABSOLUTELY REQUIRED in global warming is………warming.

  6. neill says:

This had better damn well better be a short-term tactical delay only.

The house majority has the power to call for hearings into matters of their choosing — and they’re not going to investigate the greatest scientific/public policy fraud of all time??!!!??

    !#^@#$^%#$^*^&(&($$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$!!!!!!!!

    • BioBob says:

no investigation is required – just eliminate their funding period – defund global warming for the win

      • drewski says:

Exactly BioBob — what we need is MORE ignorance. Defund the scientists!!

      • Mike Davis says:

        Drewski:
There are no real scientists involved in the AGW hoax! Defunding this fraud is like not allowing those on food stamps to buy booze and drugs with their food money. I used to hear that the debate is over and the science is settled. I came to realize there is no science to be debated as it is just a bad science fantasy story outline produced by people playing Sim World on glorified Game Boys! And doing a poor job of it!
You are living proof that P.T. Barnum was right! There is a sucker born every minute!

      • BioBob says:

and see 2nd comment from top above … not real scientists – just AGW the buffoons claiming to be scientists who can’t even create a statistically valid terrestrial temperature recording system and must use goal-directed “adjusting” to reinforce their claims.

        shameful

  7. BioBob says:

you actually think global warming funding is expanding intellectual boundaries ??? you poor deluded fool. AGW is all about pouring money down a bottomless rathole period while legitimate science is starved.

Exactly BioBob — what we need is MORE ignorance. Defund the scientists!!

So let me get this straight – the ONLY way for scientists to learn is to be paid by the government?

Talk about ignorance! They have not been defunded yet and you are a prime example of it!
