“Two Meter Sea Level Rise Now Inevitable – But How Fast Will It Happen?”

http://www.treehugger.com/

Should happen in about 2,000 years.

Glaciers are retreating and parts of the ice sheets on Greenland and Antarctica are melting into the ocean. This must result in a rise in sea level, but by how much? A new measurement of the gravity everywhere around the globe with a pair of orbiting satellites provides the first ever map detailing the rises across different parts of the globe.

According to the new results, the annual world average sea level rise is about 1 millimeter, or about 0.04 of an inch. In some areas, such as the Pacific Ocean near the equator and the waters offshore from India and north of the Amazon River, the rise is larger. In some areas, such as the east coast of the United States, the sea level has actually dropped a bit over the past decade.

Time for more Government grants to study the non problem.

  2. latitude says:

It goes up in some places, it goes down in some places…
    ….whatever will we do

I think someone should get a grant to study how many scientists still wet the bed……..

  3. Jeff K says:

If a warming world is inevitable like they say then no need for anymore funding, the science is settled, good work, well done, time to retire.

  4. Philip Finck says:

If this is `robust’ it is major news. In particular it illustrates that a measure of `global average sea level rise (GASLR)’ is a meaningless number.

It further suggests that like GASLR, that global mean temperature numbers are equally meaningless. This is of course no big revelation. It is a point that has been `very quietly’ discussed.

Recently there have been hints of this with respect to the inability to `predict’ climate change on a regional scale. Global is meaningless as it would only be coincidence that regional rates of sea level rise and fall would equal global mean rates.

Scientists aren’t that stupid. It simply further shows that the agenda is being pushed by a select part of the scientific community and that other scientists are simply forced to keep their heads down. Go against the flow and you are dismissed, then no longer invited to be part of the `climate change group’. You aren’t blatantly kicked off….. you just are no longer invited to sit on working groups.

Even the beardies who visit Treehugger don’t seem convinced.

The article has had only 3 comments in 15 months and one of these was critical.

They even have a Climate Culture Calculator, or something equally stupid. One of the recommended actions is to buy carbon offsets when you fly! Well Treehugger, if it makes you feel better , send me your money and I won’t fart as much.

    • BioBob says:

nah, reverse psychology – threaten to fart in their general direction if they don’t send money ….

ok ok – put on a fake AGW conference in Tahiti ….with a non-refundable deposit ….yeh, thats it Brilliant !!
