Why Do Alarmist Sites Censor?

When your religious position is unsupportable through logic,  the only approach is to silence the opposition.

    Well that’s no fun…………

…I suppose, when you haven’t been able to prove your guess in over 30 years

You think they’ve finally just run out of answers and can’t think of anything to say that hasn’t been squashed already?

There was an overwhelming consensus that continental drift was a load of codswallop when Wegener and others proposed it. There was a whole industry of ulcer “cures” when Marshall found they were actually caused by bacteria and could be cured by antibiotics.

In the future people will regard CAGW advocates the same as ‘flat earthers’ for exactly the same reason. The flat earth hypothesis has been overturned by scientific findings, and emphatically by Magellan’s expedition. Scientific data shows that the CAGW hypothesis is not valid. Scientific data is increasingly showing that solar cycles are the most important contributor, with contributions from oscillations plus a small and quite harmless amount from CO2.

And yeah sorry I know its pretentious, but after reading that tripe my head exploded and I forgot to put my sense of humour back in until just now.

Alex Steffan makes his intolerance look pretty.

Well, even if they don’t get posted, the comments get read before bing deleted.

    • Scott says:

Are you sure? I’d guess they’re glanced at until clearly from a skeptic, and then deleted even if not read in their entirety.

Sad news for totalitarian types. This site is no more. They reached a tipping point. Their last posting, Nov 2010, explains:

“But all things change, and so it happens with Worldchanging. The organization is taking steps to close its doors and dissolve as a 501c3 nonprofit organization by the end of 2010…

Worldchanging readers were generous over the years and an important part of our ongoing operations, but we were never able to secure major foundation support, so Worldchanging relied most heavily on income generated from Alex Steffen’s speaking engagements (Alex gave more than 400 talks over the past five years) and the Worldchanging book… It was clear we needed a new model if we were going to stay in operation…

Unfortunately, despite everyone’s best efforts (and a successful October event), funding ran out before such a transformation could happen. Given the financial realities we faced, the board and staff have agreed that it is time to bring Worldchanging to a close as gracefully as possible.”

I guess the ‘debate is over’ angle just wasn’t selling anymore. Another defective model.

    Pretty…..childish?

If, back in the day, I had been as stubborn as “the debate is over”, when in fact they haven’t debated at all, I’d be looking at some quality time behind the wood shed.

And they portend the future of all living beings? Or, pretend that they are adults?

    Rather mind boggling….actually.

I agree that there is a vein of childishness running through the global warming religion. I meant though that he makes his brand of intolerance look like something higher than intolerance. It’s not intolerance with him, he thinks.

The equivalent of a child putting his fingers in his ears screaming “I can’t hear you!”

  9. NoMoreGore says:

So, first they realized the debate is over (they lost it) and then they threw in the towel. Good. All is right with the world.

I think even the Goracle isn’t finding so many speaking engagements these days. Planetary Doom is only fun when the only thing you have to do about it is buy a cloth grocery bag and eat organic veggies.

I clicked on the link “How to Talk to a climate skeptic”.

Its interesting that one of the first things sites like that due is try to discount / invalidate the Medieval warm period and Holocene optimum. Claims are made such as,

“Answer: Though some temperatures during that period were in the same range as today, they were confined to the northern hemisphere and the summer months.”

Yet no links to studies / evidence to support the claim.

  11. PhilJourdan says:

Notice he says “overwhelming consensus”, not “overwhelming evidence”. When you think about it, it is for the best. After all, do you really want a muslim preaching the koran in a baptist church?

  12. Andy Weiss says:

After this last election, the reason for these people existing (money) disappeared. Therefore the site disappeared!
