His GPS broke and he lost access to the Internet. Also, he ran out gas and the batteries died in his flashlight. Not to mention the broken sonar which made it impossible to detect pack ice. Worst of all, his radio broke and he lost communications needed to bring in the supply chopper.
I am really sorry I no longer have time to play with you folks the way I used to.
I made no claim, i was responding to the implication of the article that the arctic was free of ice sufficient to circumnavigate the arctic. Since it took Amundsen two years, there are a few different possibilities. Someone posted that he said he could have done it in one year, and I have no reason to doubt him.
Steve,
Note that it took TWO years for Amundsen to accomplish this.

rotfl
Seriously though. I’ve checked the satellite photos from 1920 and he definitely could have done it in one year.
His GPS broke….
So ice breakers couldn’t find him
it was 1920 Tony ……………………. rotfl again
Hey Tony,
that’s been noted so many times. Pay a little attention.
took TWO years………..
that’s even better, ice was open for 2 years in summer, not just one.
Amino,
Not necessarily true.

Amino,
Not necessarily true.
You’re going to have to give an explanation based in science for what it looks like what you are saying. As it is your claim is unsound.

ROFLMAO!!!!!
Maybe he had to make several stops to rescue and rehabilitate a bunch of drowning polar bears or something.
lol
Actually Amundsen said he could have made it through in one but he wintered over to find the north magnetic pole.
