Alarmists Say Now That They Never Supported Biofuels

Yup.
Note the key words “excess supply”. Of course corn ethanol was supported by some because it was an immediately viable option. As soon as it because big business and the effects on food production became known pretty much every green organization opposed it.
It was never a viable option! It looked good to those that were in a position to make money off it! You must not know many “greens” because I was preached to about the “Value” of biofuels by the ECO Whackos I knew!
I actually know quite a few greens, living in Vermont and all.
Every single green group I know opposes corn ethanol, and there has been much discussion of the pros and cons of various options.
You are right it looked good to big business and the politicians they lobby and they both are making lots of money from it.
Tony, if they oppose it, why aren’t they marching in Washington to STOP IT!!
Tony, there was never a surplus of “food” for biofuel. It was never a viable option.
but the “green” organizations were all for it, and pushing it as hard as they could. The only reason they stopped, is because they made total morons out of themselves….
….again
Latitude:
That is the way I remember the propaganda behind “All” Biofuel alternatives!
Mike,
the key phrase being, “the way I remember”.
and that short little news blip that mentioned all the people that were starving and dying around the world….
…because of biofuel
Not another word about killing the orangutans, chopping down the rain forests, destroying ecosystems, pollution from palm oil, converting food crops to jatropha, and on and on and on…..
Aren’t greens wonderful?
Someone dig up that study by Cornell where they showed we would have to convert all of the land in the US to growing biofuel….
…in order to produce 1/8 th of the fuel we need
Then where is all that water and fertilizer supposed to come from?
You just watch. If the CO2 and we are all going to die scare statements prove out to be gross exaggerations or not true at all, in 10 years all the environment groups will be saying, “We never said there was run away warming due to CO2 emissions. We never lobbied for biofuels. It was only `fringe’ scientists that supported that view. It was never the consensus. Give us money to protect bed bugs. Really, believe us, don’t you?”

Check out this new book
Biofuel programms? What biofuel programms?
Hey, there’s plenty of coal and oil in the USA. Let’s get it and use it. FUCK THE GREENS!!!!!
If you hang around me long enough I’ll tell you what I really think.
🙂
They were always foragainst them.
Of course, Egypt was toppled by climate change:

The zingers are at the end.
WWF ‘s support of biofuels is documented here.

Baron,
you are channeling Steve, you need to READ your links before you post them if you are trying to support your position. Nothing about corn in here. just “sustainable” biofuels. With this caveat. ” Such instruments should in no case take the form of open-ended income transfers, act as means for protecting the EU market or affect the security of global food supplies”. Sounds like they roundly condemn current US corn Ethanol policy.
In the ideological drive toward purity I know this sort of thing (reading what is actually written) is inconvenient. I apologize for trying to interrupt the desire to believe that every single thing environmentalists do is evil.
Yea, the corn/ethanol thing just happened by accident. No one ever supported it.
Steve,
Who said no one ever supported it again?
