As a cyclist, I am always hoping that high fuel prices will reduce traffic. However, based on Europe where petrol is obscenely expensive, I am not expecting it to happen any time soon.

Even at our high fuel prices it is still much cheaper and quicker to drive to work than using public transport.
The flip side is we’d then be dodging reams of wobbly mobile phone using cyclists in suits.
I would not like to be stuck in the huge crowds of cyclists that used to occur in China. At least in a traffic jam we can ride past all the cars.
As far as I can tell, one person in a car takes up more than 100 times more space than one person in a bicycle.
