Accuweather is forecasting a high of 47 and a low of 29 for Sunday in Dallas. If the game was outdoors, it would be the coldest Superbowl ever played.

Good for them! Couldn’t happen to nicer people. That may be the up side. Arkansas is expecting -4F with a foot of snow and 4 inches of freezing rain and sleet. Up here (Springfield, MA) we just heard we’re “up-graded” (who names these things?) to 24 inches more snow, capped with 4 inches of sleet and blow Zero lows.
After 30 years working in the tropics I’m not emotionally equipped for this.
Here’s a prediction:
Pittsburgh defense is too much for Aaron Rogers to handle. Pittsburgh offensive line a little bit too much for the Green Bay defense. Pittsburgh controls the style of play enough to win. The party is over for Green Bay. But if they still had Brett Favre I’d pick them to win.
One last thing, Dick LeBeau will not be mentioned once for why Pittsburgh is the best team in football. And that’s a shame.
the one that would have put Green Bay over the top

Naw, they’ll have to mention him. He’s the man! I’ll bet you 10 carbon credits ………..
I tend to agree with your bottom line – Pittsburgh. But I do not think it is the “awesomeness” of any thing Pittsburghian – more that I am just not impressed with Aaron Rodgers. last week before the final 4, I maintained that the best QB left was Roethlisberger. Down to the final 2, I still maintain that, and that will allow them to squeak out a win.
Brett Farve is washed up. If Rodgers isn’t able to beat them (And I am not saying he can’t or that he will. We will find out.) Farve isn’t going to either. He is getting to that age that he is quickly falling apart.
Really? It wasn’t apparent this year. If the line had given him the same time it did last year he wouldn’t have had to try to pull out miracle plays that lead to interceptions. As it is, the offensive line was a sieve this year and he seemed to get injured every other play. I can say that any player would have been continually injured if they had been hit like he was. A good example, Aaron Rogers got two concussions this year from lesser hits than Favre took.
I think Rogers is mentally immature and cannot handle pressure well. The Steelers have a high pressure defense, a very good defense. I can see Rogers will not be able to handle the speed, and the complexity, of Dick LeBeau’s defense. Some are saying that because he did so well against Atlanta that he will play great in the Super Bowl. But Atlanta has a soft defense. That’s the reason they are inconsistent. (although they have the best quarterback to come along in a long time) Rogers will not have a big game. He is not an eek-it-out kind of guy. The Green Bay offense functions off momentum. They like to get into a frenzy from momentum, to strike quick as possible. If they cannot create momentum they will punt all the time. The Pittsburgh defense likes to frustrate teams, to slow things down. And I think they will frustrate Green Bay.
On paper Green Bay wins the game. But it becomes very different when you get onto the field. Reality hits then. Stats mean nothing then. Green Bay could win. But it is going to be very hard to beat Pittsburgh.
I’m with you, I’ve got Pitt all over this one. This should be a toughness check for Rogers. I think he’s a very good QB, but when Pitts’ D comes to play, watch out. I think they’ll come to play.
I’m a Dallas fan, so I hate them both equally.
Regardless of how Rogers handles the defense, he can’t do worse than Chitowns QB…………how in the heck can one be able to walk, stand, ride a bike and not insist to be in the game? Staubach, Bradshaw, Favre, Montana, Tarkington, Aikman, Steve DeBerg and a litany of other QBs would have had to be dragged off of the field. Just about any other QB that calls themselves a professional. I’d give my left or right testes to suit up again.
If Cutler had looked injured instead of tuned out it would have helped him. My first impression was that he wasn’t injured badly but that Dom Capers had defeated him mentally so he got out to fight another day. The third string QB almost pulled off going to OT!
