The red line below shows HadCRUT warming (0.8C) over the last 150 years, overlaid on Vostok ice core data. If that doesn’t scare you into submission, I don’t know what will. Clearly we are facing a period of unprecedented and dangerous warming, unlike anything ever seen by man before.
Disrupting the Borg is expensive and time consuming!

Looking at that, a gambler would bet on another ice age…….
good job Steven!
That scares me plenty… look how red it is!
lol…..oh noes!
Funny how high that CO2 spike is right at the very end. it is so narrow I didn’t see it at first.
If the two graphs correlate as well in the future it looks like we are in for a 12-15°C increase. Wow, Steve makes those other warmest look like amateurs!
Of course that is unrealistic, and all scientists know that, so Steve can legitimately truncate the lower graph to “hide the incline”
Tony :
Since all CO2 rises throughout geological history have been preceded by rises in temperature, then we can already be certain that the two graphs will not correlate as well in the future.
The $64,000 question of course is what, if anything, is going to happen now that rises in CO2 are preceding apace without being driven by rises in temperature.
Since we have no precedent for this, the only logical conclusion is to say “We don’t know.”
Any Climate Scientist, on either side of the argument, who tries to tell you otherwise (ie: just about every single one of them) is therefore blowing smoke.
Yep Tony, you’re clearly right. Look how mighty that climb in temperature is compaired to that mighty climb in CO2… obviously the past two cycles climbed together (be if before or after, but who cares about the little details) and if current trends continue… my god! CO2 will be in the thousands of parts-per-million and temperatures may rise… a couple of degrees… wait that itsn’t a warmista argument. I’m sorry oh-god-of-global warming! I failed!
Tony, how in this world do you see that?
CO2 follows temperature in every case, up or down.
Yet you did notice that CO2 is rising fast at the end,
and temperatures have not.
You are all wrong. If I was one of the members of the Steve rah rah club, I would call you unflattering names here.
I just passed this by the reporter from eTourism, and he concludes the same as I did. As we know there is no arguing with the common sense of eTourism reporters.
The graph CLEARLY shows CO2 levels going MUCH higher than at any other time on that graph. Since the correlation is almost exact up to now., that PROVES that temps will rise at least 14°C in the near geological future. Hansen is going to be PISSED when he finds out he is WAY more conservative than Steve!
lol, very pissed. Steve rah, rah club???? Oh, my! :-\ What the hell is that? Aren’t you suppose to be an entertainer of some sorts?
I would have expected a bit more from you with that. I mean, even “the Steve fan club” would have been more eloquent. Or you could have gone with the undertone laiden “man crush” theme. Or even gone more loquacious with something like the Steve endearment team, but no……..you went with the Steve rah, rah club. 😐 …… :-\ ……. :-/
Tony, come on, man! You have to do better or you’ll be put on the B team with Andy.
SUYTS,
After pouting for a few minutes I am going to admit that you are right. It was a total failure of imagination, and instead of waiting for something worthwhile I just threw that out. I probably allowed Andy’s poor attempts to lower my standards, but that is still no excuse.
Your suggestions are all quite good. What are your consulting fees?
Mr. Tony, you’re trying to tell me that that little red tick has a steeper slope than at all other points in time previously? Really? So those sharp upticks at around 140 Tyears and 250 Tyears and 340 Tyears ago are some not steeper (in an upward sense)? And I’m no rah-rah, I just respect logic. And we have not called you bad names… you need a sense of humor, sir. Additionally, you really expect me to trust someone with a “reporter” from “eTourism”? I’m not familiar with any tourism site that provides accurate information, nor have I ever met an impartial reporter that is unbias. Again, sir, I do not insult. Only laugh…
Luke, when Tony speaks of an eTourism reporter or something of that nature, he’s referring to a recent story about the returning snow to Mt. Kilimanjaro. Originally, it was indeed, covered by a tourist reporter. Steve posted on the story. This is Tony’s sarcasm towards the validity of such a story. Also, many here, do deride Tony’s views. Don’t feel bad for Tony though, he can give as good as he gets.
Tony’s a good guy, although a bit misguided. He’s fun to engage with, and you should try it sometime, it hones some skills. But, if you do engage in a climate discussion with Tony, come with it and be factual or he’ll see your mistake and display it.
Luke,
How DARE you insult Steve on his own blog.
And you sir have not called me bad names, but alas even Steve has had to go so low as call me daft, in just the last couple of days.
If you were a regular reader of his blog you would know that eTourism reporters are the highest authority on questions of climate change.
and those sharp ticks in the CO2 frame are not half as high as the current one.
Fair enough Mr. James, but I will never say I’m an expert, nor do I expect anyone to “believe” me regarding anything… this is a blog after all, yes? I just think the whole global warming thing is so very silly… and when I hear stuff like this I just laugh!
Mr. Duncan, I did not mean to insult anyone (still don’t trust reportes or tourist sites, so I’m there with you apparently). And I now see how you misunderstood my initial argument… I was not refering to the little red line that is not on the carbon dioxide curve, no I was refering to the little red line which is actually on the temperature curve. Sorry, next time I will refer to the correct little red line.
