American Lung Association Busted On CO2

CO2 is actually a remedy for Asthma and Hyperventilation

The Buteyko Breathing Technique is based on the premise that raising blood levels of carbon dioxide through shallow breathing can help people with asthma. Carbon dioxide is believed to dilate the smooth muscles of the airways.

A study involving 60 people with asthma compared the effects of the Buteyko Breathing Technique, a device that mimics pranayama (a yoga breathing technique), and a placebo. Researchers found people using the Buteyko Breathing Technique had a reduction in asthma symptoms.

You can’t site that. It violates the liberal consensus!

  2. Blade says:

Left-wing scoundrels. Disgusting liars. Green Socialist Marxist neo-Comms. In years past it was Jews with horns drawn on their heads. This propaganda should really piss people off. Scum.

    War is coming.

Do they tell the casting agency “we need angry or pathetically sad children”?

  4. Joe Doakes says:

    Dear President Obama,

(I originally wrote this letter to my Representative John Hall who is going to lose to Nan Hayworth, but Now it seems the Republican party has seen the light too. Enjoy!)

    Dear Mr. John Hall,

Some 125 years ago Thomas Edison invented the electric light bulb. Since that time it has shown brightly around the world, and after its useful life it would find its way into the dump and do no harm to the environment. It would appear that Congress and the President have determined that it would be a good idea that by legislative fiat we now must use a fluorescent bulb that is an environmental nightmare to dispose of but uses less energy while it runs. We have lost our minds – and so have you.

You claim six ways to Sunday that you are an environmentalist. I think by voting yes on this one you are dooming the drinking water of the future to be undrinkable. Mercury is one of the most toxic substances on God’s green Earth and now, by your vote, you want to incentivize the citizens of this country to pollute it? I wonder if before you voted yes to this most recent piece of idiocy, you even attempted to determine exactly how many mercury-laden lightbulbs would be introduced into the environment once producers are forbidden to even create an incandescent bulb.

As I write this there is a Nazi German submarine that is sitting at the bottom, off the coast of Norway, that was sunk to keep a supply of mercury from getting to Japan, where they would have used it to make more advanced weaponry. Around 65 tons of it sits there waiting for some future generation to figure out what to do. If it breaks open, it will contaminate untold hundreds of thousands of square miles of, ocean, bay and seashore. Let’s not forget all those fish that we will not be able to eat, and never forget, pound for pound, eating fish is one of the most environmentally friendly proteins a person can consume. I’ve yet to witness a flatulating fish.

Any legislation that creates any incentive to create more of this borders on the criminal. One day all of our children will pay the price for this latest gem of stupidity. I’ll spell this one out real slow. Do no harm. Three words. Let’s expand it a little for clarity. Do no harm by not choosing “green” choices that are more about the green on a dollar bill, and less about the environment. See if you can remember that the next time you vote on legislation as a representative of mine.

    Respectfully,

    Joe Doakes

  5. Colin Henderson says:

The child in the picture needs oxygen because CO2 levels have been reduced to such low levels (by warmists) that plants can no longer produce enough O2 to support human life!

  6. Doug Proctor says:

To the liberal there is no end to progress, no end to improvement, no end to doing better. The science fiction writers of old warned of futures in which we all ate porridge with soft spoons in order to reduce accidents occurring in the kitchen as accident-reduction elsewhere 100% effective. The Clean Air Act cannot ever be said to have “worked” as long as there is one possible individual adversely affected by a human-controllable atmospheric malefactor or substance.

Economic cost-benefit is of no concern to the liberal, especially if he is not presented with a tax bill identifiable as resulting from a specific campaign. There is no feedback to bring reasonableness into the do-better scrum. Imagine if it were said that the Clean Air Act (or other) had achieved its purpose, we were going to shutdown the agency except for the monitoring portion, leaving the penalty portion to Justice? It would be like demobilizing the army because we were no longer at war. (Which used to be done, by the way, but before we found it more profitably to find war for our warriors than warriors for a war that needed them.)

The EPA will never, under a liberal philosophy, be cut back or even defanged. The idea of working towards a goal, achieving it and then resting may be what God would approve of, but not something attractive to a bureaucrat.

  7. John B., M.D. says:

Never heard of this. Not much data on it either: http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/?term=Buteyko+Breathing+Technique
Not sure I have any comment one way or the other, but would caution that this would unlikely do anything for the underlying pathophysiology of asthma and at best just reduce symptoms. Patients that depend on this may paradoxically do worse if they defer meds (e.g. inhaled corticosteroids to reduce airway inflammation) until it is too late.

  8. Marjorie says:

This completely ignores the fact that CO2 helps to create the smog that caused the girl’s asthma in the first place. While CO2 is not an irritant pollutant, raising the level of carbon dioxide in the air raises the amount of water the atmosphere can hold and smog (smoke + fog) is pollutants carried on water molecules.
