June 1, 2007 — A physicist from Colorado State University and his colleagues from the North American Carbon Program (NACP) have discerned and confirmed the unforeseen advantages of rising carbon dioxide levels. Through the processes of photosynthesis and respiration, scientists have been able to elucidate why plants are growing more rapidly than they are dying. The NACP is employing methods, such as the use of cell phone and aircraft towers to monitor and retrieve carbon data for their continuing study.
Too much carbon dioxide can be a bad thing, but sometimes it can have a positive effect on plants and trees. The more carbon emissions we dump into the air, the faster forests and plants grow.
This new revelation is the result of research done by the North American carbon program. Scott Denning, Ph.D., a physicist from Colorado State University in Fort Collins, Colorado, explains the North American Carbon Program, “We are measuring CO2 in the atmosphere at dozens of places every hour around the United States and Canada.”
About 100 cell phone and aircraft towers dotting the North American landscape are providing a network to measure CO2 in the atmosphere. Physicists tracking the data have found an unexpected benefit of rising carbon dioxide levels. Dr. Denning says it’s unusual. “Stuff is growing faster than it’s dying, which is weird,” he says.
Disrupting the Borg is expensive and time consuming!

But that is weather since it is local. Only local areas allowed are ones that are warming or facing its negative effects, for example Arctic,Polar Bears etc.
“Stuff is growing faster than it’s dying, which is weird,”
How is that weird? If “Stuff” died of faster than it was growing then there would be no “Stuff” there to measure, Would there?
“I’ve just discovered the wheel” moment right there!
lol…. you go Sparks! Up next? Soon, someone will discover plants emit O2!
Oh No!! Not O2, Wood + O2 is a highly flammable combination!
You have to laugh! search:
“Global warming causes more forest fires”
http://environment.about.com/b/2007/05/25/global-warming-linked-to-rising-number-of-us-forest-fires.htm
But don’t tell these lunatics that the pine cone (and many other tree seeds and nuts) evolved over millions of years to take advantage of Forrest fires.
Unexpected benefit. Plants grow faster when you provide them more food in the form of carbon dioxide. WOW, simply amazing. That’s really weird. Next thing you know, they will notice that when it gets really cold, it will snow instead of rain. Or maybe they will notice that animals expell CO2 as part of resperation, ie. a natural function, that’s weird too. How many other weird thing haven’t these -snip- noticed yet?
Later Dr. D will discover his rump while rummaging his pockets, but it will take both hands.
And he’ll get a second opinion.
I am sorry but this is a BS project because what they found was already a well known situation at the time the research was done so to claim the results are somehow Weird or Unprecedented displays ignorance on the part of the researcher and the person that wrote the article!
It also displays the level of scientific knowledge of the site that published this!
They call themselves “Science Daily” This shows they chose the wrong name. Almost like “Realclimate” that displays a Surreal awareness of Climate issues!
I sooooo missed the boat by not sticking with academia.
