  1. Mike Davis says:

Does that mean the Earth will go FLAT again? Without a North Pole we can not have a Northern Hemisphere. Are the Langoliers coming in 2050 ant they will start at the North Pole?
This situation is worse than anyone thought. Think about it, if the North Pole disappears and turns to nothing it will not be long before the rest of the world follows.
The world is melting so fast it is getting colder and snowing more!

  2. Paul H says:

Apparently the Matterhorn will disappear due to global warming as well.

“Will these scenic wonders, which in truth belong to all
humanity, survive the disastrous damage we are causing to the
    environment?”

    • Mike Davis says:

      Paul:
History has provided evidence that the Matterhorn is doomed. Where I live , near the Appalachians, was once part of the world’s tallest mountain range. It was even taller than the Himalayas are today and now the range would qualify as foot hills to some of the other mountain ranges.
While Global Climate Change was the leading contributor to the erosion of the mountain range, I tend to think humans had little to contribute 380 Million years ago or even during the majority of the erosion.

      • Justa Joe says:

The Himalayas cause and/or contribute to monsoons in Asia. These monsoons cause untold property damage and deaths. As a form of climate change mitigation we have no choice but to blow up the Himalayas. WE HAVE TO DO SOMETHING!

    • Tourist in Chief says:

Maybe they mean just the candy cane barber pole that marks the North Pole will disappear?

  3. MikeTheDenier says:

Now we have to drag the damn mountains into the argument. I guess TallShort is soon to follow.

  4. Andy Weiss says:

The Beach Boys will be doing a surfing special from the North Pole in 2050, assuming there isn’t an unexpected bout of dreaded warmcold taking place there at the time.

  5. Ralph says:

“Cooling is Consistent with Warming and within the range of projections by the models!”

    This model?

  6. Nightvid Cole says:

The North Pole cannot disappear because it is defined by wherever the Earth’s axis of rotation meets the surface in the northern hemisphere. Perhaps they meant the sea ice cover would disappear, but it certainly would re-form in the winter, which they also neglected to mention.

And the heat wave in 2003 in Europe cannot be attributed to climate change. According to the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC), single weather events cannot ever be said to be a result of climate change. It requires analysis of statistics over large areas and long time periods (at least 50 years, preferably longer)

Yeah, careless-appearing writing turns up in the media now and then. The journalists must either be overworked, unqualified, unmotivated, dishonest, habitually negligent, deceived, or in a big hurry for some other reason. But I am in no position to attempt to guess which of those is the case.

    • Mike Davis says:

It is apparent that you do not live in the Virtual World of Climate models where anything is possible. 😉
