During the early 1980s I was working on the Safety Analysis Report for the DOE’s nuclear waste site near Carlsbad, New Mexico (WIPP.) My job was modeling groundwater flow around the site.
One day my bosses’ boss came in to my office and said “You guys are doing great work. Keep it up. Just make sure that you don’t report anything that hurts the project.”
I quit the next day, and spent the summer working as a wilderness ranger for the US Forest Service.
There were also exaggerations about Yucca Mountain by both sides.
Okay, call me naive, but why can’t we redress the executive order that states spent rods can not be reprocessed?
It almost seems like many people believe it is impossible to do so?
It also quite annoys me that the MSM dare not say anything even touching on the notion that the nuclear power industry may have actually better designs significantly since the Gen III reactors.
but that’s just me.
