100 years of fire suppression, combined with incompetent National Park Service employees, led to a controlled burn becoming a disastrous fire eleven years ago in Los Alamos, NM.
I spent the last couple of days hiking and running in Los Alamos, and took some pictures. You can see the burn line in the image below.
The image above is the ski area just above the town. Last week I reported on the SF Chronicle warning that the climate of Aspen will become like Los Alamos by 2100. Interesting warning – given that they already have very similar climates.
I’m starting to get just a tad jealous……………
