Washington Post Declares The End Of The World – Warns Of The Health Risks Of Fear

In all my years I have never seen the media as bad as it is now. They’re actually making Cronkite look good. With each generation we comment on how ‘this’ generations’ music is so bad compare to the last (and it is usually true), but little did we realize that it would be far surpassed by the utter degeneration of a different area: the broadcast and print media.
If it were possible to press a big red reset button and evaporate all of them, I would do it because the collective intelligence of the human species would spike overnight. This includes all of them ABC, NBC, CBS, FOX, CNN, Washington Compost, NY Slimes, Nature, Scientific AntiAmerican. The international media is just as bad.
What a sorry state of affairs. Lord, please let the internet and blogosphere drive a stake through their barely beating hearts.
The anti nuclear activists are going to town here. Every half baked extremist is putting their two cents in where they can.
I have seen an Australian ABC interviewer trying to put words into a nuclear experts mouth. He was trying to make rational explanations while the interviewer was trying to turn the his statements into a disaster scenario.
Having said that. The Japanese authorities are not giving the full story.
Angela Merkel want’s to close down some reactors for investigations. Putin wants an investigation into the Russian nuclear industry.
The non mainstream media is even worse because there is no editorial control, they have no need to be non-biased and are more specialised so mentially write what their readers want to hear. You can get good examples of this on WUWT stories about this event, it goes the other way to the mainstream media and completely downplays it.
I watched Channel 4 news last night and it was very good both on the disaster and the nuclear issues.
The nuclear problem is still unfolding. Steve highlights fear above and it does seem that the messages coming from the government and power company go from getting better to getting worse to getting better to getting worse at the same time as things keep going pop and measures taken are getting larger. So it is no wonder people over there are wondering what the true story is.

Talking of going up and down, the accident used to be rated as a 4, now it is a 6
1228: France’s nuclear safety authority says it classifies the Fukushima plant accident as level six. The maximum is level seven, used only once for the 1986 Chernobyl accident, Reuters reports.

On the contrary, nothing has happened so far that contradicts the science and resultant scenarios predicted by the scientists giving us the benefit of their practical and theoretical knowledge on the more responsible websites such as this one and WUWT.
Their information chimes perfectly with what other experts, consulted by the MSM and subjected to sensationalistic nonsense by their heedless interviewers, are attempting to convey to us in as rational a manner as the hysterical and leading interruptions will allow.
Five hours after the morning’s increased radiation levels fell, the BBC was still blazening the headline that radiation levels were increasing to readings that were injurious to health, and this is but one amongst many examples of wilful disregard for facts that a discerning and less credulous listener will have picked out from the propaganda, fed to us for the many and varied self serving agendas of the MSM and its owners.

The problem is Roger that for every scientist on there saying that you get 20 folk writing stuff such as ” this is Nuclear powers finest hour” and “the plant works have a few bruises only” and other stuff like that. And I haven’t made those up.

Deaths per TWh for all energy sources: Rooftop solar power is actually more dangerous than Chernobyl
Coal – world average 161 (26% of world energy, 50% of electricity)
Coal – China 278
Coal – USA 15
Oil 36 (36% of world energy)
Natural Gas 4 (21% of world energy)
Biofuel/Biomass 12
Peat 12
Solar (rooftop) 0.44 (less than 0.1% of world energy)
Wind 0.15 (less than 1% of world energy)
Hydro 0.10 (europe death rate, 2.2% of world energy)
Hydro – world including Banqiao) 1.4 (about 2500 TWh/yr and 171,000 Banqiao dead)
Nuclear 0.04 (5.9% of world energy)
http://nextbigfuture.com/2008/03/deaths-per-twh-for-all-energy-sources.html
The problem is nobody can actually measure the number of deaths caused by Chernobyl, nobody actually knows, only the primary deaths plus guesses.
Besides that, solar power accidents don’t make 150 000 leave there home when they happen and help to make the stock market collapse. I am sure Japan would be rather spending time on the rest of the disaster rather than governmental man hours on this as well.
