GISS is the red plot with the green trend. HadCRUT is the blue plot with the red trend. Temperatures are at the same scale and normalized to 1998. GISS has gone up 0.15C while HadCRUT has gone down slightly.

° are “adjusted”; lower for historic temperatures, higher for current.

° So how bad really is this ongoing cold spell?
° How long will we be in the deep freeze?
° Is there a “tipping point” for an ice age?
° How fast does the “tipping” take place?
° What has happened to temps on Mars since 1997?

They don’t make up numbers in the Arctic like GISS does.
They don’t really make them up. They extrapolate, interpolate, and excrapolate.
Systematically made up numbers are no better than randomly made up numbers.

None of the surface temperature records are reliable!
Unless you are referring to something like the Pacific Climate shift in the 70s there are no tipping points in climate because climate is the range of weather experienced between the extremes. It depends of the length of time you examine to determine climate in a region.
There is NO normal climate unless you refer to what lies between the extremes and an average climate is anything between the extreme points.
Just like inches or meters it is only a reference number that people take to seriously!
