Another group of researchers studying Milwaukee’s sewers recently concluded that heavy rains caused by climate change could lead to a 20 percent increase in the number of sewage overflows, a troubling sign for Chicago, Cleveland, Detroit and other industrial cities throughout the Midwest with similar systems.
Disrupting the Borg is expensive and time consuming!

three 100-year floods in less than 20 years. That’s telling us something.”

“Chicago has had two 100-year storms in three years. Iowa has had three 100-year floods in less than 20 years. That’s telling us something.”
========================================================
Flooding of rivers in the Chicago area is a natural phenomenon. Agricultural areas flood along with natural wetlands. The magnitude of these floods and the effects upon humans grew as the metropolitan area developed. Flood events of historical significance have occurred across the region during 1849, 1855, 1885, 1938, 1952, 1954, 1957, 1961, 1973, 1979, 1986, 1987, and 1996. Most record-setting flood stages and discharges in the region have been recorded since 1948.

“Another group of researchers studying Milwaukee’s sewers…”
Funny when taken out of context. Or even in context. So, let me see… now we have the threat of rising shite levels too?
And was about the disappearing crapcap at the sewage plant? Is it good thick multi-year shite or that other stuff?
Will the poobears go extinct?
At least the farmers are happy with all the rain. Would you rather have another Dust Bowl?
Civil engineers gotta work too.
And here I was, a former resident of the “great place on a Great Lake,” thinking it was all the graft, kickbacks, corruption, and incompetence which defined the glorious public works project known as the Deep Tunnel–a waste water system dedicated to reducing runoff into Lake Michigan. It was a maldesigned nightmare from the start. Of course, they can’t blame the fact that the system has never worked and often shoots raw sewage out into Lake Michigan on themselves.
