New York Times 1881 : Walrus, Seal, Bison, Elk, Fish, Reindeer – Soon To Be Extinct

In 1881 they actually had a valid point. That was when there really was a genuine extinction crisis in North America. Early conservationists exaggerated wildly to make their point – including inventing fake and ridiculously high ‘original’ wildlife populations – e.g. 60 million bison, 100,000 grizzly bears, etc. – to use for false comparisons. The current gang, employing the fake pseudoscience called Conservation Biology, does the same thing in spades… even though things are much, much, much better in 2011 than they were in 1881.
