Steig reminds that a short term trend on a tiny portion of Antarctica, can be extrapolated to represent long term trends across the entire continent.
Disrupting the Borg is expensive and time consuming!

Real Climate Useful Idiot doing what they do. This will give the media something to drum for a day or two without every mentioning that his research has been demonstrated to be flawed on this very issue.
Who has demonstrated that it is flawed? Where is the peer-reviewed paper showing that temperatures are NOT rising in the Antarctic?
satellite data says that temperatures are not rising in Antarctica

Man dude, where have you been?
What? Steig is raising his head again? O’Donnell embarrassed him last time he tried to state anything.
No, no, embarrassment is confirmation. Hot is cold.Wet is dry. Normal is unprecedented. We’re talking about global warming here.
With the computational powers of Modern Science, we can now make long-term extrapolations based on short-term phenomena. Gathering real data along the way is such a waste of time.
Also, they can adjust data from the past to communicate the story better….. if it means saving the world it’s o.k.
I like that Mr. Hal! Spot on!
So what is the real story about Antarctic warming? It would be nice to learn something truthful from a knowledgeable person since the warmists are making it into such a big deal.
Strange. I always thought that Dr. Steig lived in the South Pole, of course, he is a specialist in bipolar
As a layman, qualified (below PhD level) in science, business (MBA) and economics, and a practitioner in all 3 plus a healthy dose of (then) super-computer modelling, who has obsessively followed the cAGW (whatever) argument since its start, why is it that I have only very, very recently become aware of these magic ‘Rossy waves’ which definitively explain the warmcold experienced in the Northern (Steig: and now the Southern) Hemisphere?
Clutching at straws?
Sorry, Rossby. Still magical.
Newish – In 2011, a Nature Geoscience study using general circulation models linked Pacific Rossby waves transporting heat from increasing Central Pacific sea surface temperatures to warming of the Amundsen Sea region, leading to winter continental warming of Ellsworth Land and Marie Byrd Land in West Antarctica via an increase in advection.
The straws are getting further away. Clutch, baby, clutch!
Bob Berwin”Who has demonstrated that it is flawed? Where is the peer-reviewed paper showing that temperatures are NOT rising in the Antarctic?”
They are/were rising Bob..on one peninsula.
But someone had “accidently” extrapolated that data..as an overall trend for the whole of the antarctic.
Here is the paper
http://www.climateaudit.info/data/odonnell/4%2020101126%20Submission.pdf
Steig was the secret reviewer of the McIntrye paper, criticising Stiegs methodology..yes i know thats odd..but hey..thats modern day “climate science”.
And it only took 88 pages of correspondence for the final paper to get it published.
This major refutation was over the major media outlets..
The last line was a joke of course.. 🙂
They should have included a photo of Stieg with his fingers in his ears going “la-la-la-la-la-la”
*Steig (I guess the spellchecker here doesn’t know who he is)
