For now, there simply isn’t enough data to say whether climate change makes severe thunderstorms and tornadoes more or less likely. But 2011 could prove to be the beginning of a trend.
“We can’t say much about one particular outbreak, but if this if this is still happening ten years in a row, we will definitely be wondering what is going on,” says Joshua Wurman, president of the Center for Severe Weather Research in Boulder, Colorado.
And if aliens abduct the entire population of Boulder tonight, we will definitely be wondering what is going on.
Memo to Captain Obvious Wurman: Get back to me in ten years.

“Because the Only Good Progressive is a Failed Progressive”
OT – Canada Election, Conservatives looking to take a majority … hopefully…they fought the liberals on signing Kyoto….but liberals went ahead and signed it…..
It’s official … Conservative majority. Thank God Jack “cap-and-trade” Layton didn’t win!
“…….but if this if this is still happening ten years in a row, we will definitely be wondering what is going on,………….”
Yah……except the moron forgot to mention that the 10 years prior had no correlation between either CO2 or temps………… well, maybe lower temps = less tornadoes, but that’s only in the last decade minus this year.
Steve, you’ve posted on tornadoes and temps before, but I think its time to make fun of the people that suddenly believe global warming = tornadoes. It’s funny in a sad pathetic sense, but worthwhile showing the non-correlation again.
If aliens abducted the entire group of Climatologists in Boulder it would be a good start.
Hmm…. the Pielkes probably wouldn’t like that.
This is one of the best arguments against the AGW psychos. Over and over again they keep running after the latest news, pretending they never screamed about hurricanes or Arctic sea ice. Science it ain’t, and it can’t be.
“For now, there simply isn’t enough data to say whether climate change makes severe winters more or less likely. But 2010 & 2011 could prove to be the beginning of a trend.

“and if aliens abduct the entire population of Boulder”
The sigh of relief from the rest of the population of Colorado will be deafening!
Weather catastrophes tend to cluster. If we had two or three more big tornado disasters over the the next couple years, we would still be near our long term average. After all, we went almost 40 years without one.
